4.0 out of 5 stars Exit Human - 'Arvada' (Direct Hit Records), October 10, 2010
This review is from: Arvada (Audio CD)
Looks to be this trance artist's only CD. Not a bad find. Tunes I got the most out of were the nineteen-minute opening track "Arvada", "I Can't Sleep", maybe "Lost" and the wonderfully good "This Engine" (possibly this title's best cut, hands down). Ideal to play at back alley / after hour bars, Border's midnight sales (do they even have those anymore?) or at those landmark clubs in major cities that still feature such obscure touring bands as such, etc. Recommended for fans of Aphex Twin, 777, Kraftwerk and Seefeel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Resistance is futile, July 27, 2004

Electronic bleeps and beeps that would make Karlheinz Stockhausen proud, beats that will set every dance floor on fire, female voices from your favorite nightmare: welcome to the world of Exit Human. This is certainly one of the best "modern" CDs I've heard in a while. "The songs on this album are a document of the birth of an artificial organism" claims their website. Whatever the story is, this mixture of Krautrock, electronica and hip-hop is exciting and fun. "We encourage your insight into the relevance of these files. Is it a document of the emergence of an artificial life form, a mistake, or a joke? We are convinced. She is the voice in the static that draws you nearer. She is the nexus between automation and organism." This is what Moby would have sounded like had he been assimilated by the Borg. Resistance is futile. Exit human.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kind of spacy sounding..., March 16, 2004

It's very synthetic sounding. This should be played in all dimly lit bars and coffee shops located in basements and alleys. I look forward to the next CD from these folks/beings/entities.

5.0 out of 5 stars From Jersey Beat magazine, January 10, 2002
This review is from: Arvada (Audio CD)
Oh my! You don't run into something like this every day. This is electronic driven mayhem! The first track is nearly 20 minutes of electronic chaos, featuring synth and Speak and Say type electronic vocal here and there. The second track becomes more musical, in a sense, with some real human voices and melody and a distinct beat, but it is equally chaotic to the first track, and truly magnificent. Electronics still dominate everything on this disc, but in a very cool way. This is what would have happened if androids had taken over the world and invented punk and new wave back in the 80s. It's very hypnotic, very deadpan, very intense, very cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exit Human : Arvada, February 14, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Arvada (Audio CD)
This album chronicles the birth, and self actualization of an artificially sentient being named Arvada. Upon the moment of Consciouness, Arvada's ethereal voice begins to question her reasons for being brought to life, and ultimately what her existance means : whether she is a computer glitch with a voice, or actually a self-conscious being trapped in a main frame prison.

The music is a mix of techno/electronic, inspired by computer sounding samples, and drum loops, mixed with some acoustic guitar solos, and live drums. The vocal and lyrical content is unparalled. A brilliant concept album that is almost too hard to define in its infusion style mix of sounds. One of the most original albums i have ever listened to, it is well concieved, and masterfully executed. A must have for any serious collector of the beautiful, and the unusual.
