This book is an independent sequel to a trilogy written by the same author.
After reading the trilogy I had great expectations for this book, these expectations were almost but not entirely fulfilled.
The book "Arven efter Arn" is the story about the decedents of a knight templar returning to Sweden after serving for 20 years, and them using the knowledge he gained to unite the people of Sweden.
But all in all, this book by Jan Guillou is indeed worth reading.

Ingrid Ylva blev en legend redan i sin livstid vid mitten av 1200-talet. Hon var en av flera starka �nkor som styrde riket efter de blodiga segrarna mot Danmark. Om henne sades att hon var trollkunnig och att s� l�nge hon h�ll sitt huvud h�gt skulle intet ont drabba folkunga�tten.

Med j�rnvilja fostrade hon sina s�ner i en skoningsl�s tid d�r den starkares r�tt var den enda lag som g�llde. Att just en av hennes s�ner till slut skulle segra i maktkampen kunde inte ha f�rv�nat n�gon. Men med en h�nsynsl�shet som till och med skr�mde hans samtid krossade Birger Magnusson maffiav�ldet f�r all framtid. Och de lagar han stiftade om hemfrid, kyrkofrid och kvinnofrid blev rikets norm f�r 600 �r fram�t.

Historien k�nner honom som Birger Jarl, Stockholms grundare och Sveriges skapare. Men sagan om Birger �r mycket st�rre �n s�.

Arn Magnusson m� ha varit ett helgon. Det var sannerligen inte Birger. Men han var en segrare som inte vek undan f�r moraliska eller praktiska hinder p� sin v�g fr�n yngling i V�stra G�taland till riksbyggare.

Arvet efter Arn �r en vacker och blodig riddarsaga d�r marken sk�lver under dundrande h�sthovar och skummet yr om korsfararnas fartygsbogar p� v�g �sterut. Det �r ocks� ber�ttelsen om f�rlorad k�rlek som en del av maktens h�ga pris.

Detta �r en frist�ende forts�ttning p� Jan Guillous trilogi om riddare Arn Magnusson. Trilogin har p� bara n�gra �r s�lt i �ver 1 miljon exemplar i Sverige. B�ckerna �r under utgivning i de nordiska l�nderna samt i Holland, Tyskland, Italien, Frankrike, Spanien och England.
