3.0 out of 5 stars One Hit Wonder
Red Rider hit the charts in the '80s with LUNATIC FRINGE, a classic, haunting and weird tune with a memorable sound. It's the kind of song that would be great in a documentary about space travel, sci-fi stories, etc! If only for this one song, this CD is worth the price.

"Only Game In Town" is a terrific piece of poetry about determination in the face of adversity, and "What Do You Got To Do (To Get Off Tonight)" simply describes a feeling of looking for a good time in quite interesting terms. The rest of the album isn't quite up to that standard, but those four songs alone make this a five-star album.

This is the first Red Rider album I ever bought. It has Lunatic Fringe that received a lot of airplay on AOR stations. While not a top 40 hit, it still gets played today. There is other songs that should have gotten some airplay but didn't. Cowboys In Hong Kong is a really good song. So is What Have You Got To Do(to get off tonight) as is Only Game In Town. I enjoy listening to the cd even today. But then all of Tom Cochrane's solo cds & all of the Red Rider cds are worth listening to.

5.0 out of 5 stars I didn't buy this for Lunatic Fringe......, February 28, 2011

I didn't buy this CD because of Lunatic Fringe. You can find that song on a lot of different compilation CD's and soundtracks. I bought this because I knew the whole record was solid. I have owned it both on LP and cassette. This was a must get on CD for me now that I can recreate the LP and cassette catalogs I had.
What Have You Got To Do and Cowboys In Hong Kong are songs that stick in your head. In my opinion there are several songs on this record that are right up there with another Cochran standard, Life Is A Highway. Which is a song I will buy on a compilation not the record.
If you're looking to add a solid 80's record to your collection then this is one to add.

I like this selection of music from the 80's. "Lunatic Fringe" really rocks, but the other songs are fairly good, too.

Many people, especially Pink Floyd fans, will recall the song "Lunatic Fringe", but they have a hard time remembering which group or album it was. Well, this is it. The rest of the album isn't quite up to the same standard of performance, so I give it 4 stars.
