3.0 out of 5 stars Never Trust an Ex-husband, September 7, 2011
This review is from: As a Favor (Paperback)
Officer Jill Smith is on stakeout with her partner, Howard to catch a thief who is stealing items from Howard's patrol car in Susan Dunlap's AS A FAVOR.
Howard is on the brink of being sent to foot patrol instead of gaining a longed for promotion to homicide if they cannot discover who is vandalizing his patrol cars.
Nat Smith, Jill's ex-husband, calls and asks a favor of Jill. Would she check on a missing collegue of his, Anne Spaulding. Jill's apprehensions are fully realized when she arrives at Ms. Spaulding's apartment and discovers blood, damaged furniture, and Nat's pen, which was a gift from his father. Nat eludes her and isn't forthcoming as to his involvement with Ms. Spaulding when the missing woman's clothing turns up by the bay. Now this looks like a case for homicide, but Jill wants time to investigat on her own as there is no body.
No one in the Social Services Office, nor Ms. Spaulding's clients are the least concerned that she is missing and suspect to be a victim of foul play. The clients are deligthed to be ride of her.
A smooth read for a rainy afternoon.
Nash Black, author of SANDPRINTS OF DEATH
