As with the first volume, this is a splendid compilation for aficionado and novice alike. It presents a well-chosen assortment from the first decade of jazz recording, much of which took place using the acoustic method. The wonder is that so much of what was captured then has stood the test of time. The liner note is a repeat of the one-page version used in volume one, but augmented by a further six pages - which comes at the expense of a less detailed tracklisting.
