About the Author

Claude Pavur, S.J., has a master's degree in scripture from the Jesuit School of Theology (now associated with Santa Clara University) and the Graduate Theological Union of Berkeley, California.  He also has degrees in theology from Regis College in the Toronto School of Theology and in classics, philosophy, and humanistic studies from Yale and Emory.  In 1995, he became a professor of Latin at Saint Louis University, with leading interests in classical humanism, Latin pedagogy, and Jesuit education. He created and has run the Latin Teaching Materials at Saint Louis University website since 1996.  In 2011, he was appointed to serve as a visiting scholar on the staff of the Institute of Jesuit Sources, where, in 2005, he had produced the first full English translation of the critical text of the Ratio Studiorum of 1599.
