I have been a devotee of Chris Glaser's writing for many years. This book, like several other of his more recent works, was purchased at a book-signing when it was first issued, but in the way of the world, I did not in fact get around to reading it immediately. Then, a week ago, I attended a workshop on sexuality and spirituality presented by Chris, and decided that it was more than time to remedy the oversight.

This book is a major contribution to the current debate on extending marriage rights to GLBT people. It is extremely tightly reasoned, involving a thorough investigation of all the challenges, scriptural and cultural, that tend to work against full justice for same-gender couples. As I already knew from reading Glaser's other work, his scholarship is impeccable and his writing style is engaging and inspiring. This is no polemic, but is rather a genuine prayerful reflection on the real message of Jesus concerning relationships which can be easily overlooked as people try to bend scriptural texts to suit their own worldviews.

I am amazed that this is seemingly the first review of a really creative and extremely important book to appear here on Amazon!
