As One, which has been await for quite a while, presents the unique result of a close musical cooperation. Jane Ira Bloom and Fred Hersch have composed most of the heardful tunes, themselfes, except Miyako by Wayne Shorter and Winter Of My Discontent by Alec Wilder. Lyrical songs and ballads like Waiting For Daylight characterize this recording. On the other hand there are tunes like Inside and Desert two free improvisations exploding with energy. The clear melodie and phrasing of Jane Ira Bloom and the harmonical construction of Fred Hersch are the heard of As One.
