5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Album!
'As One' is one CD that any Kool & The Gang fan,of any age should definately have. Most people probably got it for the big hit "Big Fun" or the regaeish street party tune of "Oh La La La (Let's Go Dancing)" but there's so much more here then that! The deep funk opener of "Street Kids" discusses the pleasures of Captain Video and those into "punk or funk" with a sly little...

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit too funky for my tastes
This album by Kool and the Gang, while not as annoying as their 70s recordings, is still too funky for me. I think they really hit their stride with "Joanna", and singer J.T. Taylor took it to a new level with his solo career which he really caps with the amazingly smooth "Sex on the Beach". My suggestion: steer clear of the funk and go for the sweet lovemaking music in...

should've been a huge hit. This is the bands last album produced by Eumir Deodato and is certainly a funky way to go out.But it is also the final album with that kind of flavor and anyone who enjoys Kool & The Gang's funkier music, even with JT Taylor will probably enjoy this more then later, poppier CD's.But while you can snag it,SNAG IT!!

Of all the kool & the Gang Albums, As One is one that I feel has the best background vocals, and of course not forgetting most notably; James "J.T" Taylor in the lead. That stands out mostly in the songs "Let's Go Dancing", "Big fun" and my favourite "Street Kids". The tune "As One" stands out in a class of it's own. So much talent those guys had. This Cd is definitely worth adding to one's collection. Rare music that will always be "Cherished". 5 stars easily. Go Kool & the Gang!
