This cane is supposed to be a stand alone cane.

Very good and sturdy cane, The light makes it better than other canes.

Would return it but paying postage is not justified.

Ordered the TrustyCane from supplier The Family Place. First off, it does not stand easily on its own when you let go of it, as the descriptions and advertising would have you believe. It's a rather delicate balancing act that you have to perform, totally unrealistic to be expected of elderly/disabled persons. It gets worse when you add the batteries for the built-in flashlight; they mount inside the handle grip, which totally throws off what little balance this cane has. Having the batteries located in the down tube of the cane itself would help alleviate this design flaw, but can't say if it would be enough. The cane also will not adjust any lower than is appropriate for someone about 5'6" tall, another considerable shortcoming. I found the TrustyCane to be unacceptable and do not recommend it. It is a defective design and does not work as advertised. When I returned the cane for refund, The Family Place proved to be less than family-friendly by making me pay for return shipping. This isn't a case of "I changed my mind" or "didn't like the color", this is a defective or misrepresented product and the distributor should pay for the return. I therefore also do not recommend The Family Place as a provider of anything to anyone.

I bought this Trusty cane for my 90 year old mother. I ordered it January 3 and finally received it yesterday!! Talk about a slow boat from China!! The cane is a piece of junk!! It is made of cheap plastic. There logo says it stands on it's own....it doesn't....it falls right over!! It is very wobbly, not sturdy at all. The light did not work. This is a scam on all levels. Anyone who is thinking of purchasing this cane....don't!! It is not worth spending hard earned money for this. It is very unsafe. There is absolutely no reason to have to wait over 2 months to receive it and it is not worth the amount of money!! I threw it away...I wouldn't even take the time to return it. Beware!! I would not recommend it at all.

My mother-in-law who has fallen now 3 times in the last month asked me to order her a trusty cane. I wish I had seen the consumer alert in it. The cane is not safe for elders that have balance issues. It does not stand on it's own as shown on TV. I am trying to talk her out of even using it.

This cane is supposed to be a stand alone cane. It does not stand by itself. When you put the batteries in the handle it is even worse. Wish I hadn't purchased it..

It's more stable than a conventional cane and it's nice it has a light, but it only stands by itself on a level hardwood floor and level pavement. It doesn't always stand on its own on carpet. Perhaps it needs a wider base.

Also, it took forever for it to arrive.

Agree with previous reviewer - does not stand well on even the slightest uneven ground or on carpet. The band to secure it while folded is good and think the light will come in handy. Will keep but not very secure for a handicap person should it fall over when you are alone and need it. Could be dangerous to try to pick up after it falls over - at least it is for me.

I just received my cane this week and what a disappointment. It does not stand up on my carpet, my bathroom floor or the concrete driveway. It is also very noisy every time you step with it. Even one a wood floor, you have to move it around until you find a level spot for it to stand. The only good thing is that it folds for travel and has a light- but, every time I pick up the cane my hand hits the light button and turns it on. I would not recommend this cane.

I was so happy to find Trusty Cane at Amazon for about $10 less than their Trusty Cane TV ad. It will stand up by itself if, and only if, the surface is smooth and level. Even then, it is about 50-50 chance of staying up. The handle has a seem that is like a cutting edge and is very uncomfortable. Light will be nice, but I have been so discusted with the cane that I have not put batteries in it. It also clicks every time I put weight on it. The click is rather loud.

This is another good idea gone wrong.
