A defiant fist or approving head bob, you will move to this CD,

Imperative Reaction combines hard anthem beats, well-conceived lyrics, emotional vocals, captivating rhythms and an underlying deep, driving synth sound. They are claiming a spot as one of the elites in the electro-goth circuit. I love the way the singer lets no note passively go by and puts all his effort into the choruses. Whether it's throwing your definiant fist in the air or approvingly bobbing your head to the beat, this CD will make your body move; especially songs like Judas, Further To Fall, Only In My Mind, and As We Fall. IR proves that they take their music seriously and weren't just out to throw out another album. This is an incredible CD and will be praised by anyone who liked Redemption... or enjoys anthem goth. Be sure to see these guys in concert. High energy and terrific sound. VNV Nation's choice to have them as their opening band last year was no fluke. These guys deliver. Call it emo-goth, EBM, or as I prefer, "Sidestream" these guys set the standard.
If you like this, also try Rotersand, Icon of Coil, and Celldweller.

Hard-hitting, anthemic EBM,
This review is from: As We Fall (Audio CD)
It has almost been two years ago when I first saw Imperative Reaction open up for VNV Nation. I was completely blown away by their live show. At the time I had only known them by one song "Giving in to the Change" from their "Redemption" cd. Their performance definitely made me an IE fan. "Redemption" was good but the cd had a couple of filler tracks. I finally got around to buying the latest Imperative Reaction cd "As We Fall". I definitely found "As We Fall" much more compelling. The dance beats are much more aggressive. The beats are more in your face than on "Redemption". The songs are definitely more melodic than on the previous album. I can't help but notice how similiar the song "Judas" is to the title track to "Redemption" both melody wise and Ted Phelps' vocals. That is where the band's weakness rears its ugly head. Their songs tend to sound the same but oeverall I enjoyed "As We Fall" immensely.

Consistent,

Well, I've seen them twice in the past year and liked them enough to buy the album; however, I did not stick very long with me. I liked it at first then it hit me. I can only take it in small doses. It is just all the pretty much the same to me. Then add the vocals, which I can only try to describe as a whiney moany type thing that has started to grate on my nerves. (I'm sorry I have no better description) One person was right, if you like one song off it, then buy it, because it is consistently the same across the board. I don't want to sound like I'm trashing it, because I've enjoyed it, but in doses.
