I don't know what all the hating on this album is about it's awesome. No, it's not exactly your typical LB sound or a throwback to Latyrx songs from 20 years ago but LB is a person just like anybody else and maybe wants to try some other ish too. I love the disco sounding tracks, it's great party time, goin out to hit the clubs music. Kontrol Phreak could be a summertime dance anthem, while tracks like I've Lost Myself and Lies X 3 bring the tone down and get a little more serious. Like the Amazon review said you got Bay Swag in full effect on some of these tracks and I live in The Bay so I know what it sounds like. I've been following Lyrics Born for years, and this is more great music from one of my favorite local artists. Check out the tracks before you dismiss it over some bad reviews, funk, hip hop, and disco all come from the same place anyway. Now I'm gonna head back to the kitchen and keep gettin down with my girl to my new LB album. Worth every penny, pick it up.

It almost seems to me like the one-star reviewers are out to sabotage his career or something. This album is by no means a departure from the path LB has thoroughly forged over the years. This is a man who is clearly making art that is meaningful to him and that is designed to be high-energy, thought-provoking music. If that doesn't float your boat, there's plenty of rap out there with predictable beats and glorified negativity, which is apparently what some of these reviewers are down with.

This is an artist stretching out, so I too don't get it, why people hate this Cd so much. It is an artists job to expand their musical horizons. "I Wanna Be W/U" could not find anything wrong with this cut. I hear it at the clubs all the time, so some people like it, I would think." We Live by the Beat" is the same. I can name a lot of songs that are worse. Actually, a lot of this does sounds like music from the late 70's or 80's but, taking a step back to moveward has all been a good idea. The song "Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda" is a perfect example of this. If you hear a little cameo in here, what's wrong with that? "Lies X 3" is another cool little ditty, I find nothing wrong with throwing that in to the mix. Pushed Aside/Pulled Apart is another cool slow dance floor cut. OHH maybe there is not enough cussing for some, but every now and then that is a nice treat too. Other songs include: I'm The best(Funky Fresh in the Flesh" not bad either, the same can be said for "Block Bots". All in all this is not a bad disc to listen to. It may not rate your "A" list, but for the "B" list this Cd works. For those that think this sounds to Disco-y what are you thinking Disco never sounded like this. I hated the disco era. repetious as it was vocally, and the same beat running thru the whole damn song no matter how short or long the song was. So this disc rates better that a lot of people are giving it credit for.

Don't let a change in style obscure the time and talent that went into this record. LB can clearly bring the competition to any genre, even those I'm less about.
