5.0 out of 5 stars As The World Burns review from MusicEmissions.com
The Arsonists consists of 5 very different individual rappers and the way they team up is second to none. They trade of lines and team up on others, and it is all as smooth as butta. 2.0 out of 5 stars boring, except for a few moments...
the Source said it best, its one long cipher, there's the occasional stand out beats, but some are repetitive..

All their styles are so different but the chemistry between them all is outstanding. They whip up some eerie background samples that are put together very creatively and they only add to the raps as opposed to taking away. Let's hope that this is the future of hip hop and the Arsonists lead the pack.

4.0 out of 5 stars This Is What Hip Hop Is Supposed To Sound Like (Rating: 9 out of 10- -4.5 stars), July 31, 2007

Albums like this is what I live for, and why I'm a lyricist. The Arsonists' (consisting of D-Stroy, Freestyle, Q Unique, Just One, and Swel Boogie) debut album "As The World Burns" is nice. Each emcee really has charisma, and that is what I like about them. They hold nothing back on the mic. This group is mostly surrounded by battle raps and off the head freestyling (cyphering). Two emcees really stand out to me in the group, are D-Stroy and Q-Unique. Some of the dope songs on here are "S*** Ain't Sweet" with a dope beat by Freestyle. "Pyromaniax" is also a nice and funny track here. Remember those days in high school and people would freestlye while someone was beating on the lunch table? (I know I do) The song "Lunchroom Takeout" is exactly that. A personal favorite of mine would be "Flashback" because every rhymes about how hip hop has influenced eachother. Other great songs on here would be "Blaze", "Sha-Boing" and the time traveling song "Rhyme Will Travel". A few things brought this album down for me: 1) Lack of variety- This group specializes in battle raps, so you're going to hear that in almost every track on this album thinking they're battling someone. 2) D-Stroy's 'spoken word' track "D-Sturbed Words" is just forgettable. But overall, this LP is awesome. If hip hop is something you live for or if you have a talent for it (rhyming, break dancing, grafiti spraying), or love independant hip hop, you'll like this album. Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, February 3, 2001

The arsonists album "As The World Burns" is one of my all time favorite albums. They have a good sense of humor, much like the Pharcyde, which I really enjoy. The tracks and rhymes are hot. It is fresh from beginning to end. Buy it if you don't have it. Another tight underground rap album. I have been so sick of what commercial rap has become lately. This album's energy lets me appriciate what got me into rap 14 years ago. RSC. Support Underground Hip-Hop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ranks w/ the new underground crew, March 7, 2000
This review is from: As the World Burns (Audio CD)
This album is definitely hot. A member of the latest wave of new, underground rappers: Company Flow, Jurassic5, Pharaoh Monch. These guys are great lyricists with unique beats to keep your windows rattling. A must have for any true hip-hop fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Arsonists - As the World Burns, January 15, 2000

Brooklyn Zoo, NYC has always been a breeding ground for some of the best damn hiphop MC's out there. It's evident in the music of many hiphop artists there--Sunz of Man, Jeru The Damaja, Gangstarr,Jay-Z, Blackstar and many others.Fresh off the bat is the Arsonists' album..As The World Burns. This lives up to all the expectations as they display nearly infinite Brooklyn potential. In fact, they defy the limits of your average real hiphop album. As The World Burns has gotta be one of the best real hiphop albums of 99, along with Mos Def, Pharaohe Monche, and the Roots. Displayin the foundation of hiphop at its best, they are ready to overwhelm anybody standing in there path with battle rhymes and street credibility. On this album they attempt bring back the original aesthetic that existed in hiphop, and they do it in such a dope way. Now if only we get these commercial bastards to listen....

5.0 out of 5 stars The good stuff, August 29, 2008
This review is from: As the World Burns (Audio CD)
As others have stated in other reviews this is real hiphop. Its groups like the Arsonists that make hiphop what is is today. If your head doesnt nod to 'In your town" you got issues. The piano is tight and the bass raw. Buy this album and shove it on your CD player for a week straight.
