5.0 out of 5 stars You Become What You Think About
Earl Nightengale said the greatest secret in the world is the fact that we become what we think about. What a powerful statement! Gates and Shearon weave this universal truth into this modern day fairy tale in a simplistic yet profound way. I have purchased this book based on the fantastic reviews here at amazon.com. It was also highly recommended by Bob Proctor, whose earlier (1980's) motivational audio tapes were excellent ("The Mind is a Beautiful Thing to Waste" - much better than his newer works). Later on I discovered this book was published by Life Success Marketing, an organization closely...

Earl Nightengale said the greatest secret in the world is the fact that we become what we think about. What a powerful statement! Gates and Shearon weave this universal truth into this modern day fairy tale in a simplistic yet profound way. Tapping into the power of the subconcious mind, Gates and Shearon point out that we not only become what we think about, but that we must stand guard over our mind to prevent negative self talk. Visualizing the life we all deserve is the first step to true success. Life will give us exactly what we ask of it. I've given this book to my wife, my children, my patients ... anyone who will stand still long enough for me to place a copy of this book in their hands gets a copy! Life changing information that needs to be read again and again and again ...

I have been on the track of self discovery for a great length of time. I have attended many motivational courses, read many books, and listened to many tape series. The true measure of value of any item or event or person is if it has an ability to get your attention, perhaps move you, and hopefully change your life in some small or large way. Having said this, the book As You Wish has done all three of these measures for me. It is short in its elegant simplicity, but that in no way belies its value. The storyline is catchy, and allows an adult or a child to follow with equal ease. The emotional experiences of the main character are truly understandable and believable, and do move you into a state of belief that it could be a story about you. The message, without giving away the plot or the finish, is almost predictable but is presented in such a way as to show that simple wishes, well expressed in a positively consistent way, do make quite a difference in our lives. In fact, they make all the difference. Enjoy! Tell your friends! This is a real winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Things Come in Small Packages, October 3, 2005
This review is from: As You Wish (Hardcover)
As a student of the power of positive thinking, I would have sworn that I only think and speak positive thoughts...after all - that's how I got THIS far! But after reading "As You Wish" I began to see the tiny, little negative thoughts that work to erode one's positive outlook. Sure, it's easy to see on OTHERS! But when I read this little gem, I knew immediately that I had let my guard down on many occasions. Once I became aware again of JUST HOW CAREFUL we must be in choosing our words AND our thoughts, I began to see IMMEDIATE results! Her story illustrates vividly the little mistakes we make with our thinking. Now, whenever I make a statement, I hear "As You Wish" in my head. What a gift! I feel like Carol has given me a magic formula that will assure my success, whatever I do.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is worth it all., April 9, 2006
This review is from: As You Wish (Hardcover)
I thought this book was great...along with everyone I know who has read it which is hundreds of people. I just wanted to say that since this "PETER" character decided to write his ONE review he has written to say a bunch of negitive things about not only the book and the authors, but this life success company as well I wouldn't take him or what he says to seriously. I am not that familiar with life success but what does any of this have to do with you and your opinion of the book?

Like I said everyone I know who has read this book, LOVED it...its simple, easy to read, and for anyone, much like "who moved my cheese"

Anyway, I saw his comment and thought of course he thinks that about this book, look at all the negitive words he is writing. Obviously a negitive thinker and is just depressed about his own life and failures. Sad.

I guess Mark Victor Hanson and Bob Proctor and who knows who else that loved this book must be way off the mark, right? Haha...doubtful.

"if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all" that is the quote I believe...maybe next time you will think before you type. And yes WE ALL(look at ALL the comments and ask around, people love this book, should be on Oprahs book club) read the same book, you are just the only one who decided to be negitive about it and put people down, shows your intelligence.

4.0 out of 5 stars This little book has a magical quality, October 10, 2007
This review is from: As You Wish (Hardcover)
Why else would it come to my hand at exactly when I myself am going through life change so similar to the one of the woman in the story?

I have just decided to relocate to Portland, Oregon, more than two thousand miles away from where I am now. It is not a corporate relocation, and I don't have two kids like Hannah, but the feelings are so much alike. I am yearning to leap into the new world. I don't know exactly what that entails, but I am ready. Oh, how I wish to meet people like Genevieve and Maggie!

In fact, I want to be Genevieve. Only that I'd like to write life stories rather than orally telling them. I also want to be a successful business owner like Maggie.

This book illustrates how the Law of Attraction works, that you create your life just "As You Wish." First, it does an excellent job pointing out our habitual thinking that negatively serves us. I identified with all the "As You Wish" conditioned thoughts in the book. Then, it presents a cute story-in-the-story that is so symbolic. I can feel the inner change Hannah goes through. I know the need to take time for myself to clear my mind before making the big transition from the auto-pilot life of the corporate world to the autonomous life. And the result? Well, the result comes from genie. It is fabulous not only for Hannah but for the Universe.

There are a lot of good books that explain the Law of Attraction and how to use it. This story is special, however, as it illustrates the Law of Attraction in a way that appeals to many women and men.

"As You Wish" proves that what you think about and speak about, you bring about! Be careful what you wish for in your relationships, you most likely will get it! One of my very favorite books!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: As You Wish (Hardcover)
I have purchased this book based on the fantastic reviews here at amazon.com. It was also highly recommended by Bob Proctor, whose earlier (1980's) motivational audio tapes were excellent ("The Mind is a Beautiful Thing to Waste" - much better than his newer works). Later on I discovered this book was published by Life Success Marketing, an organization closely associated with Bob Proctor (do you think his high recommendation of this book is a coincidence?). Anyway, based on the great reviews, the book sounded very interesting, and I purchased it.

However, it is a dull book. Actually, it is a really poorly written book. The story is very simple and the writing style has almost a childish quality to it. At times one thing leads to another (rather quickly) and all of the sudden we are somewhere else, without really knowing how we got there (maybe this is why they called it a fairy tale). It appears that after the book was written, some sections were edited out to make a short story even shorter (the whole book is only about 45 pages long - which is great, you are done with it sooner). Furthermore, just about every character in the book is a female (are these two ladies, Carol Gates and Tina Shearon, a little sexist perhaps?) and they are all independent, strong, self-reliant, and end up doing really well in life. Just like that!

I am sorry Mses. Gates & Shearon, but this book is a disaster. I also apologize for the harsh words and I believe you both are fine, hard working ladies (based on the jacket description). But why on earth did you have to write and publish this book?

To all of the other people who wrote those great reviews: Did we read the same book?
