This review is from: Asajj Ventress 12" Star Wars Action Figure (Toy)
I remember how excited I was to get this figure. Asajj was one of my favorite SW characters, and when it was announced that she'd be getting a 1/6 scale figure, I went nuts. I went with the exclusive, which came with the extra head with pupils and triangle tattoos, but most of what I say here applies for both versions anyway. Well, the figure was great for the first 5 minutes, and then I started to see just how much better it could've been made. If only Sideshow had waited on Asajj until they got better at making figures.

First the good. Both of Asajj's heads look good. The regular one with no pupils matches her look in the original Clone Wars cartoon, and I like the shading around the eyes- something the exclusive head doesn't have. The exclusive one is meant to match her appearance in the comics and games, and I prefer this one. She comes with her signature lightsabers, and they have magnets in the bottom of the hilts so you can connect them and make a sweet double lightsaber. These magnets are strong and she can hold the double in one hand without one of them falling off the other. Good job there. Ok, that about does it. Now for the cons.

Her outfit is cheap. There's no other way of putting it. The boots are a very thin plastic that might be rubber now that I think about it. They pale to the other Jedi/Sith boots released from any year. The belt is ultra flimsy and I've read tons of cases where other customers have accidentally broken theirs while adjusting it. I can see why too- it's way too thin and barely holds together as it is. Her skirt looks like it's recycled pantyhose and doesn't fall over her legs naturally at all. The robe's pretty shoddy too. If they were going for the look she had in the Clone Wars cartoon, shouldn't it be a hooded cloak? The clothing on her upper body is too big for the figure, and you'll want to stuff her shoulders with cotton or tissue paper to fill it out better. She also just comes with one extra Force hand. But my biggest problem has to do with the head swapping between regular and exclusive. The inside of the head that has a hole for the neck peg isn't very reinforced. I know how to be careful with these figures, and was extremely careful when switching the heads. What happened when I tried to get the exclusive one on? The neck peg hit off-center and tore the whole material inside the head off. Meaning, the part with the peg hole was pushed up into Asajj's head and neither head could be properly connected now. And I was out of luck too because Sideshow only replaces items if you buy directly from them. I tried using super glue but it was no use. Sure, it could've just been that my figure was a faulty one, but it still happened, and it's just one of the problems I have with it.

And then there's the fact that she's on the old Buck female body. The female Bucks have better articulation than the male ones, but that's not saying a whole lot. It would've been nice if her boots had articulation in them too, or she had a second differently sculpted pair (see Sideshow's own Snake Eyes for that) to use for cool poses.

Unless you can pay about what she cost when she first came out, I wouldn't recommend getting Asajj unless you're one of those people that needs a complete collection and won't have it any other way.
