When I saw this espresso machine, I immediatley fell in love with it, as few are nicer looking than this one. It worked great the first few times I used it, and a few weeks after purchase, the machine was no longer making steam! I called and emailed everyone that was associated with the product, seller, contact info on the instruction manual, and even the factory in Spain in order to have it repaired. Unfortunately, the best advice I could get from a lady named Pilar who works for Ascaso, was to buy the upgraded "Dream Up" machine with a full warranty. Great, thanks. Needless to say, this product was returned for a refund. PS- I gave it one star because apparently it's not possible to give no stars.

Let me start by saying the Dream is beautiful. The construction is solid, the switches make the right sound, the temperature dial is old school - it really looks the part. And so it should - its going to be sitting in full view on the kitchen counter where you will notice it everyday. That much I am happy with.

Sadly, however, mine was dead on arrival.

I could get it to make steam but the pump was dead, so I never got to try a single coffee. I moved house (and country!) before I got to play with it properly. I assumed I must be doing something wrong at first but after much testing it now serves as a piece of modern art. Maybe I was just unlucky but for $500+ I expect something to WORK. I know Amazon make the returns process about as easy as it ever can be but its still a tremendous hassle. Meanwhile, if you ever plan to take one abroad, caveat emptor, as they say.
