One Wild Ride!,
By Ronald D. Culmer "DrSunMoonandStars" (Pleasanton, CA United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Ascendancy (Paperback)
John Weiskopf has really done it with this first volume of the Jacob's Bean series. What awaits the reader is a carnival ride of plot, intrigue, devastation, and hope. And yet, Mr. Weiskopf is more than just a good story teller he is a healer. The hope found in this book, and there is hope, is portable. And I for one am salivating at the thought of another book in the series.

The Ascendancy will take you on a great journey full of fun, fantasy and hope. I too felt very connected and familiar with the characters. You'll find yourself smiling throughout the book as the author introduces you to fascinating new friends during Jack and Caitlin's fabulous journey. The Ascendancy is an entertaining read that will keep you wondering what adventures lie in the pages ahead.

The Celestine Prophecy for the 21st Century - Why are we here?
Are you philosophical? Do you wonder why we are here on Earth? Are you a seeker of wisdom and knowledge and do you LOVE a great read? Solution: get this book TODAY! I would write more, today Christmas Day...but I must get back to reading Weiskopf -- John Weiskopf writes a great story with both HEART and SOUL. This is a new book, and it is already recommended reading for local schools. This is the second of many glowing reviews you will read about this book. I have been astonished and captivated by what I have found in the world of Jack and Caitlin...and in the "new way" I now see my world and the world around me as I read John Weiskopf's "The Ascendancy". Perfect for all ages.

The Ascendancy,

What a wonderful novel! This is a fast paced adventure story, not just in the traditional sense, but an adventure that leads each character to their own personal awakening as they face one peril after another. In between the fast and furious action, there is an ongoing dialogue on the human condition, taken from a perspective that is historical, present day and futuristic. It is apparent that John Weiskopf is well grounded in ancient mythologies as well as the masters of current literature. He presents the old and new visions for a more harmonious world order in a seamless fashion, as though they were interchangeable. This book is for those who want adventure, thought-provoking dialog and an inspirational message for a better world to come.

This is simply an excellent piece of literature. Weiskopf relates the meaning of humanity in context to prestne events -as well as past- in a way that draws the reader in. This is bound to become a celebrated work.

An Amazing Adventure,
By Shawn (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews

From the moment I picked it up, I loved this book. The story moves from present day New York to the ancient Incas to other worlds that are beyond belief. The story is a perfect blend of magic, science fiction, and adventure, with a touch of mysticism to make things really interesting. My 13 year old son also loved it. I can't wait until the next book in the series!

A great read!,

I loved this book! John Weiskopf has created a story that is part Lord of the Rings and part Harry Potter, with a little bit of Alice in Wonderland for good measure. From the first page I was hooked! The story of Jack and Caitlin and their exciting adventures in a fantastic world at the top of the magical beanstalk towering over New York is a great read, with vivid description and intriguing characters that pull the reader along with them. The story has elements of modern science and ancient Incan mysticism, and it is grounded in both the 21st Century and ancient times. The lessons to be learned are timeless, and through the eyes of wonderful characters (my favorite is the giant mosquito, Potter Sims) we begin to see the ways in which we can all be more connected to each other and to our world.

Adventure, history, drama, and fantasy all rolled into one!,
By TXodus (TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Ascendancy (Paperback)
Like the Di Vinci Code, Lord of the Rings, and Alice in Wonderland this book captures the reader from the first chapter and hangs on. The vivid images in the writing made me feel like I was watching a movie rather than reading a novel. The characters were so well developed they felt very familiar. This is a GREAT book that you can't put down until you know the rest of the story.

My Review of The Ascendancy,
By Katherine (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews

If you are looking for a book that you cannot put down, this is the one! It combines sci-fi, history, current events, and pure imagination to create a thrilling tale of a modern musician, Jack, and his trip to the beanstalk. He encounters many more perils than the fairy tale Jack; you will have to read the book to find out why he is clambering up the monumental stalk. He has an interesting group of friends who help him on his quest through Incan mythology, and mystical places. I highly recommend this wonderous tale for any age of reader from young teen through adult. I can't wait for more from John Weiskopf!
