5.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking February 25, 2012
By Marise
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow. I've read other works by Kevis Hendrickson, and as some other reviewers have mentioned, this one is very different. I really liked this style. This story more than anything is about a character: who she is, what her motivations and history are, and whether or not she can change. Asha's personality makes her a very interesting character, especially since it's hard to like her and yet I did like her... I think. I didn't always know how I felt about what was happening and I very much appreciate stories that me think. It's not often you read a tale where you're conflicted between wanting the protagonist defeated and wanting them to succeed. What's more, I liked how so much was left to the imagination. There are a lot of blanks to peak reader's interest and to entice them to want to learn more. Overall, I found that "Asha" is a very literarily sophisticated story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept me up at night February 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I don't read much horror because it'll keep me up at night, but by a recommendation from a friend, I downloaded this one. Amazing story! I don't read alot of indie authors, but I'll sure be reading more of Kevis Hendrickson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something different from the author October 26, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was pleasantly surprised to read something dark from this author. Quite a different story than what I've read of his work, and I very much enjoyed it. The tone was eerie, the pace fast....I'd suggest this to anyone who loves a good scary tale. Five stars for Mr. Hendrickson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Asha, Demon godess & 15 year old teen February 6, 2012

Was really enthralled by this short about an ancient demon goddess growing up in this incarnation in a 15 year old teen. We are given just enough back story and present situation to really want to learn more. I am looking forward to learning more and reading more from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice prologue for a longer story? February 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Asha was a dark fantasy short story that was set in our world in the present day. Although the child of ordinary mortals, Asha Jones was no mortal. She was actually a reincarnation of an ancient demon, and her mission could spell disaster for the human race.

While in high school, Asha met Morgana Le Guin, a witch who sensed that Asha was no ordinary human. Morgana felt a definite empathy toward Asha, despite her suspicions that Asha was very powerful and dangerous.

The story was very short, and I enjoyed reading it. The problem was that it was too short. Just as the story was starting to get really interesting, it was over, with no resolution of the storyline, just a "teaser" ending that implied that more was to come. For that reason, the story felt more like a prologue to a longer work than a complete short story. Based on the writing style and the content--limited as it was--I would give the story 4.5-5 stars, but because of the brevity of the story and the lack of resolution, I gave it 4 stars overall as a standalone story.

3.0 out of 5 stars DEMON REBORN January 27, 2012
By Ms_TJ38
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Asha is a demon that has been reborn into an African American girl. This story is 6 chapters long and about 60 or so kindle pages. Asha is in high school, makes good grades (of course) and is a cheerleader. She runs into skinheads, she sends them running all but one, a blue eye girl watches her closely. Asha know something is different about the girl but she has more pressing issues to watch out for, one is the dark figures that have watched her since she was a baby and too is a bitchy head cheerleader.

The little that was here was decent but as usual the story was just getting good when it ended. Asha has a new look and a new attitude but will that help her when she is attacked by a pack of female demons?

4.0 out of 5 stars Good dark short story December 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Asha has a lot of things put into one short story so I was surprised at how well it all worked out. I did not overly like the ending but I'm not big of cliff hangers for stand alone books, is this or going to be a series ?
Asha was a good main character and hopefully she is, or will be in future books.
