After reading all the reviews so far - it seems Ashanti's got her devotees (5 stars, no questions asked!) and her haters (1 star, buy Whitney instead!).

Seems to me that this album is somewhere in the middle. On the downside - it's clearly a quickie knock-off - how many records these days come in at less than 30 minutes in length? Ashanti does sound shrill and squeaky, especially on some of the standards (don't care for her Christmas Song, Joy To The World, or Winter Wonderland). Yes, she's definitely no Whitney. And the production is fairly bare bones.

But perceived deficits can sometimes work in one's favor. Think of the production as pleasantly mellow and understated, not cheap. And think of Ashanti's appeal as that of a sweet schoolgirl, not a melodramatic diva taking every song to the rafters. Ashanti generally knows her vocal limitations - and doesn't try to stretch her voice where it shouldn't go. The originals are simply cute, and definitely tailored for her limitations. And she does a nice job with This Christmas and Silent Night - limiting it to about two minutes probably just so it doesn't have to get all 'big' and 'diva' overdone - as listeners these days expect.

Hey, it's just plain nice background holiday music. Would you rather she had Ja Rule rapping all over it? If you keep your expectations moderate on this one, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I also appreciate that the record label is listed simply as "THE INC Records", so as not to include the word 'Murder'on a holiday record.

The first time I listened to it, I thought I was being biased so I went for another go-round and found that it was still BORING. The lyrics on the ones that she wrote herself are very uncreative. And her cover songs didnt add anything new to already established classics. Sorry Ashanti, try again next Christmas.

Ashanti's Christmas is a beautiful collection of Christmas songs old and new. It's really traditional and perfect for all the family - a fan or not.

Ashanti's voice sounds very sweet and smooth on the tracks so buy it now and let it provide the backing track to your christmas

My parents hated Ashanti but love this cd ,like i said it's for all the family everybody will enjoy it this season

Okay, Ashanti is not Whitney or Mariah, who completely erased the art of singing in a sublte fashion, which can be just as nice. Some of this album may come off as a little childish, but there is something very sweet and innocent about it, which is wholly missing in this world. Sure, it sounds like it cost $3 to produce, but Ashanti shines on "The Christmas Song" and "Silent Night." She needs to start singing standards and that sort of material, because when a song is in her range, she sounds beautiful. And she IS beautiful.

I was doubting whether to purchase this cd and now I wish I hadn't!! I tried giving her the benefit of the doubt but I sorry this is a BIG disappointment. She could have done alot better. You might want to pick some one else's Xmas cd if you truly want to feel the essence of XMAS

This was a decent album from Ashanti Douglas. So if your a fan of her go get this cd.

How dare you pawn off a Christmas cd with lousy production, terrible sequencing, and off-key vocals? What, was the pro-tools out for repairs? No time to clean up the vocals? And at 29 minutes, no one in their right mind would waste the funds for this cd.
Murder, Inc. took "murder' out of the name and literally did it to the music. Arrest this nonsense now!!!

I bought this album thinking that it would be cute, although I had heard bad things about Ashanti's voice. Well those bad things came true to me when I first heard this.

Her voice is a joke! She totally puts no effort into this and obviously is not a good singer at all. iF THERE WERE 0 STARS I would rate it that for real.

On the other hand, I picked up Whitney Houston's "ONE WISH: The Holiday Album" last week and I was BLOWN AWAY. You can't even compare the two!

Last word--Do NOT buy this album it is a waste of money!

This CD wallows in the seas of mediocre. I was very disappointed with this album. I do not enjoy the sound of Ashanti's upper register and this is what she relies on for the first several songs. Most songs I couldn't wait to be over. They are repetitive and boring and grate on your nerves. There are 2 tolerable songs on this CD, "This Christmas" and "Silent Night". These tracks standout but don't expect much from this CD. Save your money and buy a true holiday classic instead of this money waster. Ashanti should stick to what she does best - singing the hooks on a Ja Rule song.

Somethings are just not made to be done over by every artist I didnt even get Ashanti christmas cd because I heard only her hardcore fans will get it but of course I went out and bought Whitney Houston christmas cd and must say that I fell in love with it YES YALL our girl is Back Whitney and she is here to stay so if you want to hear some good Christmas music pick up One Wish by Whitney Houston and let Ashanti keep Wishing.
