Oh dear...,
By John Kraft (Lisbon, Portugal) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ashby Ave. (Paperback)
It's rare that a book comes along that combines the talents of so many varied writers in such a seamless and synergistic way...My personal favourite was Guys To Blow and Guys to Blow Off by L.M. Cerruti. The other stories are all fantastic as well... In many ways, I'm still recovering from the journey. From Red Mercedes to Aeroplane Tonight I had a difficult time puting the book down...I believe the ranking of this title will steadily rise as more and more people experience the depth, joy, and creativity that can be found on and within Ashby Ave.

I have told people to buy the book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ashby Ave. (Paperback)
This is a good collection of stories. I liked 'Aeroplane Tonight'.... it did not agitate me like some of the others. It was clever and I had not read anything like it before. I liked "South Side". It just hit me right. I thought about "Buck's Back" days after I read it. Liked the style, but I am a wimp these days and the topic was disturbing. I would read "Aeroplane Tonight" again...I don't know if I would read "Buck's Back" again -- good but too disturbing. Some I do not even remember now and some I can recall well... I remember "Red Mercedes" and "One Mississippi."

Buy this Book!,
By Jackie Becker (NY,NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ashby Ave. (Paperback)
If this were the screaming 60's, I'd encourage you to steal this book! But since that's hard to do online let me just say buy this book! I purchased Ashby Avenue because one of its contributors is a columnnist for the San Francisco Chronicle and his all-too-brief contribution is worth the price of admission. But surprise-of-surprises many of the other contributors are just a scream. You will find a little bit of everything here: Serious writing, sexy writing, thoughtful writing, funny writing. This gal from New York says, "do yourself a favor and buy it!"

with absinthe,
By Lola Chandon (Firenze) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ashby Ave. (Paperback)
if you're going to read this book, be sure to have a glass of absinthe nearby--you're going to need it. These stories remind me of driving north on highway 80 in a black bmw with all the windows down, and the stereo blaring maurice chevalier singing "thank heaven for little girls."

Enjoyable but not enough pictures!,
By Fritz von Griffix (Bielefeld, Germany) - See all my reviews

The stories were great, from the red woman to the creepy slave dealer who takes d-marks for young girls. The cover photos rock, just more pics! Please!
