I bought this because I am a fan of Lisa Gerrard and her haunting and beautiful intonations resonate well with the theme of the DVD which is also available from Amazon. The hand made CD sleeve is a work of art but it has one detraction. The bead which holds the case closed presses down on the package and mars the data layer of the CD. I had to send one back and received another only in slightly better condition but it played whereas the other could not be made to play even on multiple players and CD ROMS. Hearing and seeing the display makes me wish I could see the exhibit. For those that enjoy ambient, relaxing and even meditative music, and enjoy the soundtracks by Lisa Gerrard, this CD is a must.

It is just as beautiful as the DVD of Ashes and Snow. it sets a very calm and relaxing mood in my home. Also nice to play during a massage session!!!

I first heard this CD while on vacation in Mexico and enjoyed listening to it while relaxing on the patio and watching the ocean and green landscape. I put me at peace so I could forget about my job while on vacation.

This soundtrack CD was a Christmas gift for my daughter and she absolutely loves it...We attended the Ashes and Snow Exhibit when it was in Santa Monica in either 2006 or 2007 and we were all taken by it...Have looked for things from Ashes and Snow for some time since but to no avail...Was very pleased when I found it on Amazon, quite by accident...Liz is thrilled by it and we of course are very pleased with that...JJJ

Beautiful piece or music and beautiful artwork on cover. I'm a huge fan of Lisa Gerrard and bought this after reading many of the reviews. i couldn't be happier with it.

I have played the Ashes and Snow Soundtrack through several times. It was intended as part of a video installation, something like efforts by Eno and Sylvian. There are some excellent musicians involved with the heavy lifting done by Lisa Gerard and Patrick Cassidy. Among the names some may recognize are Michael Brook, Djivan Gasparyan (a great Armenian singer and performer on the dudek), David Darling, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (by studio magic, he sadly died several years ago) and some other guys I've never heard of. This is primarily instrumental music with a strong Middle Eastern flavor and electronic. It is melodic and rewarding to even non-adventurous listeners or those who recognize none of the names I dropped. It does come in an oversize, hand made paper jacket which does not readily fit shelving. This is good stuff, and I am curious about the DVD of the installation. This soundtrack certainly stands on its own without the video.

As stated by other reviewers, the CD was horribly scratched and only the first 3 tracks would play. Under no circumstances should you order this CD and Amazon.com should just stop selling it. Obviously, I returned it.
