3.0 out of 5 stars A Nice But Unrealistic Book
I think the author should stick to writing about racing. In this book, a horse kicks eight-month-pregnant Ashleigh in the side. She has to go to the hospital. Her baby is born, but a blood vessel in Ashleigh's brain bursts. She goes unconscious, and she starts to dream about Christina, her baby, in her older years. In the dream, Ashleigh has died, and Christina is...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best since "A Horse Called Wonder", August 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle (Thoroughbred Super) (Paperback)
I think this is DEFINATELY the best book since "A horse called Wonder." I mean, there were many great attempts but nothing like this. Joanna, you should write them all. You have The Talent. I also just read "Ashleigh's Diary" and that was wonderful. I almost cried like 5 times in both books. Keep writing them yourself Joanna!

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit confusing at first, but great after you figure it out!, September 5, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle (Thoroughbred Super) (Paperback)
At first I didn't really get this book. I mean, in the prologue Ashleigh's like in a coma or something and no one's sure whether she'll live or die. Then the entire story takes place as if she dies, but then in the end it says she lives. I didn't really get it. But then I figured out the whole story was about how everything would have played out if Ashleigh had died. How her daughter, Christina, goes on to be a great Eventer and win second in the Rolex and so on. It's a bit confusing, but after I read it for the second time I understood how the book worked.

I have read every book up to #38 3 times each! I love these books soooooo much. This book was a great book explaining about Christina's,Ashley's baby, life as she gets older. When i read it I thought Ashley really dies and that was the end of it! THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK, but my favorite book so far was Star In Danger

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best THOROUGHBRED books ever written, August 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle (Thoroughbred Super) (Paperback)
Naturally, all of the THOROUGHBRED books written by Joanna Campbell are wonderful, but this was one of the best. It left me in suspense, and was very emotional and detailed. I could relate to the characters' feelings completely because the author described how they felt using the perfect words. This book really had an effect on me. I love horses, riding, and this series! As for the person from Ohio, Cindy and Glory aren't in this book because it was published before the first Cindy book came out(this book came out in 1994 where as SHINING'S ORPHAN came out in 1995). I hope that clears things up. JOANNA, THIS IS A WONDERFUL BOOK!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good book, but sorta werid..., December 1, 2002
This review is from: Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle (Thoroughbred Super) (Paperback)
I loved this book, just like all the other ones, but it was really weird how they had all this stuff that was a dream and never really happened! It sorta gives you a fake idea of what will come. But dont get me wrong I loved the book and the story line was really cool. I absolutly love Jazz Godess! She was like almost one of those perfect horses! Except when she crushed Christinas leg, but she went on to come in second or third in the Rolex, and that might not have happened if her leg didn't motivate her! So, this was a great book, if a bit werid.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really Good Book..., August 6, 2001

Ashley "Ashleigh" Houseman (Muskegon, MI USA (SixthImageKeys@Aol.com)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle (Thoroughbred Super) (Paperback)
I loved this book. It showed how much Mike cares about Ashleigh, and how much Ashleigh loves Christina, and you can "feel" Christina's pain about not having Ash. I liked the dream, it was really cool. I cried, laughed, was angry, confused, and felt bad during this book because it felt like you were there and actually took part. Like you could imagine everything happening. Lotsa details and stuff which is cool. I think Christina could be a little bit more like Ashleigh in the rest of the books, but it's cool. I liked all the Eventing stuff that they had, but was glad that they went back to racing which is what they started out with and that's what got people hooked. What I found interesting is that in Ash's dream there's Ross Townsend who is a total JERK, but in "real life" it's Parker and he's really cool. He's especially cool because he puts up with Brad & Lavina. But anyway, Yeah, I totally love this book and I read it all the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! The best cover too!, December 30, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle (Thoroughbred Super) (Paperback)
First of all I LOVE Thoroughbred books! They have more interesting characters and exciting books than other horse seris that can drag on and on! I just finished this book yestering for like the 2nd time and I love it still! I don't know people say Christina is a snob I think is very cool but she does exstarate alittle like Cindy but she one of my favorite characters! I don't feel that all the changing authors etc. a messing the seris, but I hadn't been reading of the newer books yet so my opinion could change. One thing I have been noticing though is the newer book covers, the older ones are so beautiful an represent the horses and characters perfectly. The newer ones I noticed look like last minute hurried decsions and not relating to the book. I would really like better covers like the older ones! I rate this book a 5 because it is so very interesting and fun to read and also the cover is beautifuly fits in with the story :)
