It's not very often that a game aims to be fun and realistic while instilling a sense of personal involvement and responsibility. Mary-Kate and Ashley: Winners Circle does that within the theme of horseback riding. Players compete in such equestrian events as dressage, jumping, and cross-country, and learn the basics of caring for a horse. The game offers a practice mode, which lets riders master the controls and explore a course before entering events, and an adventure mode with large forest and island levels where players can play minigames or just simply explore.

Cartridge Only MARY-KATE AND ASHLEY: Winners Circle for the Game Boy Color is a unique racing title that pits players against a plethora of obstacles while riding horseback. There are four different horses to choose from, each with a distinct look and style. Each horse has varying statistics for speed, jumping, and handling, requiring the player to make a careful choice to find the horse best-fitted to their racing style. Before riding you can also alter the clothing of the athlete to something of your choosing, then watch the changed sprite during gameplay. There are two modes of play: the first is a Training mode that lets you practice the controls and the course for the real competitions, and the second is the Steeplechase mode, where the real challenges lie. In this mode you must race through a course without being stopped by any of the many obstacles strewn about. MARY-KATE AND ASHLEY: Winners Circle is meant for young gamers, as the theme and graphics are sure to be loved by those looking for a light and exciting adventure.

This game allows you to walk, trot, canter, and jump your horse in many different places. There are tournaments and you can win prizes and admire them in your room. There are many different horses to choose from.You earn more horses as you progress through the challenges. Once you have beaten all of the challenges, you earn a whole new tournament to ride. It could use a bit more detail, because i'm not even sure if they go into their two-point.(Which all you horseback riders know you have to do to jump) But this game is still very fun and great for long airplane or car trips. I, as an experienced English horseback rider know that actually riding and really jumping is more fun,but this as close as you get when out of the saddle. Oh! Did I mention you can also choose wether you want to be Mary-Kate or Ashley. You can also choose their outfits. It is a pretty fun game and I recommend it for ages 7+.

I bought this for my 8 yr old daughter to play with her friends..they love horses and Mary Kate and Ashley. The most fun they had was picking the horse, outfits and rider. Other than that they were mostly frustrated. Even the beginners circle was difficult. There were not clear enough instructions on where the trail was and either Mary Kate or Ashley just keeps repeating you are not on the trail over and over but does not help you get back to the trail. The girls do not like this game - much prefer Barbie - although this is much more realistic. Needs more work!

When I got this game for my birthday, I really liked it the first few times I played it. But it was 20$, and I beat it in six days. The codes were such a hassel for me, they got lost all the time, and I had so many codes I got them mixed up and wasted a bunch of paper. This game was a little challanging, I guess someone under 9 might have fun with this game. But for adults, older children, don't waste your money, and if you want a good horse game, it's racing mind you, but you should get Gallop Racer. One more thing, the makers of this game could've atleast made it possible to groom your horse!
