4.0 out of 5 stars "ASIATIC" ORGAN JAZZ !!!, December 18, 2008
This review is from: Asian Persuasion (Audio CD)
Bill Heid's singular take on the jazz organ tradition always makes for a rewarding musical experience. On this latest release, the Pittsburgh native reflects on his many years touring Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, and most recently, China. Guitar master Peter Bernstein needs little introduction. He has been a regular on the New York jazz scene since the late eighties and has played and recorded with countless greats. Mike Petrosino worked with Bill in Southeast Asia where they both toured as Department of State Jazz Ambassadors. He provides a solid and sensitive anchor for the session. Pittsburgh conga player George Jones previously worked on a number of Bill's releases, always providing the right amount of percussive seasoning. Heavily influenced by both Don Patterson and Larry Young, Bill Heid continues to carry the torch for old school jazz organ. This one is a `must' for jazz organ lovers worldwide!
