Shipped the next business day from our Massachusettes warehouse, this unique and attractive variation of classic Japanese wood & paper lanterns, about a foot and a half tall, is a great size for next to the bed or on a lamp table in the living room. Crafted from stained and sealed, 100% kiln dried Scandinavian Spruce, with puncture & tear resistant, fiber reinforced, pressed pulp rice paper shade, & distinctive, subtle, Zen double cross lattice design. The bulb socket is sized for a standard table lamp light bulb, no special bulb is required, but we recommend helping reduce carbon emissions by using a compact flourescent lightbulb. The white shade diffuses soft, warm, calming, indirect light through out the room, creating a cozy, homey effect, and is likely to get compliments for as long as you own it. The lamp is beautiful. This item met my expectations and I have used it for several months without any difficulties. The fabric is a rather delicate, partially transparent, and brilliant bleached white Shoji/rice paper. The frame is stable and without defect. I recently purchased a similar make from an Asian store for about 10 dollars less, so I can't say it is the best price available, but it is quite pleasing and I don't regret the purchase.
