Highly Recommended,
By Jeff Worth (New Orleans) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Asimov's Guide To The Bible, Volume Two, The New Testament (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book. It is scholarly and well researched. Asimov takes an intellectual approach to presenting the cultural background behind the times in which each of the books of the New Testament were written. While he is Jewish and there are obvious differences with the Christian view of Jesus, his research adds a lot to your understanding of the Bible. Worthy of note is his brilliant commentary on the controversial Book of Revelation. His points about the history of the times it was written make a strong case for the identity of the Antichrist being rooted in the times of Nero. Believing his conclusions gave me a better view of my life in the 20th century and the present.
