3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but short, December 30, 2008

If you like "Car Talk," you'll like this book. Ray and Tom dole out sound car advice with a helping of self-deprecating humor.

That's fun and interesting while it lasts, but it doesn't last nearly long enough. The book may have 200 pages, but only half of those actually contain words. The authors' responses are cut short without the playful back-and-forth with guests on "Car Talk." The jokey cartoons that fill so much of the book are entertaining at first, but once you see that a handful of cartoons are repeated to take up every other page, you realize the joke's on you.

I can't say you won't enjoy this book, but won't recommend for this price. Hopefully, they'll someday take the time to write a whole book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Basic, August 30, 2009

I like to read Click and Clack's column, but this book is written for people with little knowledge or interest in cars or how they work. If the reader had much interest, they would know these things already.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good laughs, February 13, 2009

I am a backyard mechanic and i love car talk. Not only because they get interesting questions but also down right idiotic questions from people who lack common car sense. The book is a great laugh and also interesting. Great read for the advanced mechanic and the person who barely knows how to check their oil.
