The Head Set came together like so many bands do – one guy screws around with a four track and puts together a bunch of songs. He shows his brother, who plays drums and happens to know a couple other dudes who mostly play Stevie Wonder songs but are up for a lark. Fans of The Strokes, Neon Trees, Bowie, Television, Bono-mullet-era U2, The Police will enjoy the raw power pop of The Head Set's debut EP, Ask Her Twice. Lead singer Jordan Blaugrund's powerful, soulful voice separates THS from the rest of the indie rock pack, and the band behind him is rock solid. A collection of energetic, almost punk rock tunes highlighted by 'Paper' & 'Problematique,' and a sign of great things to come from this band on their follow-up Way Past Used. Highly recommended for fans of modern rock.
