5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT TECHNIQUES THAT REALLY WORK!
My wife and I were getting very frustrated with some of the issues we were having with our 2 1/2 year old, and the techniques in both of Jo Frost's books really helped us save our sanity. For instance, we could never take our son shopping, because he did not want to ride in the cart, and wanted to be carried through the store. If he would get down to walk, he would not...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good best practices for "active" kids.
This book was not exactly what I was looking for...disciplining principles for toddlers. But it does give helpful advice for older kids that are energetic, troublesome or rowdy.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT TECHNIQUES THAT REALLY WORK!, June 23, 2008
This review is from: Ask Supernanny: What Every Parent Wants to Know (Paperback)
If he would get down to walk, he would not hold our hand for long before he would try to run off. My wife and I both suffer from back injuries, so it was just killing us to carry him all of the time, and the tantrums he would throw when we tried to make him sit in the cart, would make us feel like everyone was staring at us. We used the technique of writing a small shopping list for our son, that had some small pictures of items that he could recognize, and gave him a pen to mark things off of his list as we put them in the cart. We did this, and he actually sat in the cart the entire time we were shopping. He has never sat in the cart for any longer than 3-5 minutes tops before throwing a tantrum. The techniques were also great for helping us get our son to eat at supper time, and also to help us get our son under control when it came to hitting and kicking at us. This book is well worth the money. We were beginning to wonder if we were bad parents, but it was just that we did not have the knowledge and tools needed to raise him to respect what we ask him to do. Do not hesitate to purchase this book, or her other book. You will see a drastic difference in your child's behavior as soon as you put Jo Frost's techniques into action. A+++ book

5.0 out of 5 stars All parents should own this book, January 3, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ask Supernanny: What Every Parent Wants to Know (Paperback)
This is a great book. I bought the first Supernanny book that came out and while it was a good book I still had questions that remained unanswered because I had hoped it was a bit more specific. Then comes along Ask Supernanny which was exactly what I wanted. It has lots of great information and advice that all parents should know. It's very helpful and really makes life easier. It helps us deal with whatever problems we have with our son and fix them and help him understand that he isn't the boss of the house. This leaves for much more quality family time together, which is really what life should be about anyway. Great book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fairly Comprehensive Parenting Book, April 11, 2008
This review is from: Ask Supernanny: What Every Parent Wants to Know (Paperback)
Ask Supernanny is a fairly comprehensive parenting book. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I figured that judging from her show, this book had to have some helpful information- and I was correct. This book has helpful hints from ages 0-12...so it's not something that you'll read once and leave on the shelf to gather dust, I'm sure it will be something I pick up from time to time to see what information might be available on a certain topic.

Overall I agreed with and thought most of the advice was right on and I'm hoping that most will be successful. I've already taken on some advice and it seems to make sense for us. I think the big determination will be when the "terrible two's" really kick in! I'd definately say this book is worth the bargain price of only $10- although I think I paid a bit more retail. Either way I'd say it's a nice addition to your parenting book collection- it's nicely put together, organized and easy to get through and easy to pull out and look up specific info.

3.0 out of 5 stars just ok, January 17, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ask Supernanny: What Every Parent Wants to Know (Paperback)
The first supernanny is great, this one is ok but not as good. The reason is she simply answers very specific questions from letters she has from parents. Many of these questions and answers were things that very few people have to deal with and thus not as good. The one chapter I did like was the extra explanation she gives about how to correctly do a time out.

5.0 out of 5 stars YOu have to read this book!!!!, July 23, 2009
My son this past month or so was having so many breakdowns at home and in public. It was like I had a completely different child on my hands. He was no longer taking naps.... the list goes on and on. This book saved me from losing it! Right now my son is taking a nap for the first time in months without a fuss. This is a wonderful book. At times I felt I was being mean by the "no eye contact" rule or "talking" but I tell you it works! I love this book and I can't seem to put it down! I would highly recommend this book to any parent.

A good book, goes right along with what her tv show and other book talks about. Not sure it was as informative as I was hoping it would be, I liked her other book better, but it was still good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great parenting source for your library!, January 30, 2008
This review is from: Ask Supernanny: What Every Parent Wants to Know (Paperback)
I love Supernanny's no nonsense style of parenting and discipline. I gave this book a four because it's not the answer all questions book, but a great place to look for those general and even not so general questions you may have when it comes to dealing with your children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome 100% Recomended!!!, June 3, 2011

This review is from: Ask Supernanny: What Every Parent Wants to Know (Paperback)
This book has been a blessing not only to me but to my entire family. Peace, happiness and almost cero stress have come back to my home. I was completely stressed out and desperate of loosing control of my 3 year old daughter; I was doing ALL the opposite the book said (within other things screaming, yelling crying) causing my daughter to be fussy, irritable, disobedient, disrespectfull at all times. This book explains so many things especially teaches you in a really easy way several techniques step by step; Once I applied them I got back my autocontrol as well as control over my daughter's behavior. In just 1 day she was obedient to my first warning. Isn;t it a blessing? She behaves almost perfect at all times, specially at a table during meal times, at times to fall sleep and when meeting others friends with kids. I am so very thankful to the Lord, to my brother who saw my desparation and sent me this book and of course to Supernanny.By the way, I have not seen one TV Supernanny program yet, but I am positive you will loose so many details you need to read if you just watched the program. Doing both will be a perfect success.
