Another Bob Pollard Project,
By Mark White (Spokane) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ask Them (Audio CD)
Lexo and the Leapers are yet another extra-curricular enterprise by the songwriting god known as Bob Pollard of Guided By Voices. Here, he's backed by a Dayton Ohio band called the Tasties. The results of this one day collaboration are truly inspired. The sound is a bit more...muscular than most of his other work. But the songwriting is vintage Pollard - gorgeous hooks, smooth melodies, and that incredible voice. If you've ever dug GBV, you really should have this one.

robert pollard rocks out !,
This review is from: Ask Them (Audio CD)
This cd rocks out with a big sound.Once again Robert Pollard has written some great songs and put some muscle behind him with some nice noisy guitar and drumwork. There are four songs that are destined to become Pollard classics, Time Machines, Alone, Stinking and Unafraid, Circling Motorhead Mountain, and a rockier version of Fair Touching(also recorded by Pollard as GbV on Isolation Drills). If you love Pollard's solo work and a big noisy sound;then you'll love this.

Classic Fading Captain Series Must Haves,
By
This review is from: Ask Them (Audio CD)
The Fading Captain Series was a dream collection of material from the majestic song craft of Robert Pollard's Guided by Voices machines. Bob is a catalyst for the rock music soundtrack of your life. Yes, you! Unless you hate late 60s British invasion influenced psychedelic power punk pop. Then go back to your Radiohead and Dave Matthews Band innocuous nightmares. If you do like spectacular and original rock tunes and shows, then buy all this stuff you can find. I did, and it motivates me to work harder and earn more money to pay for the near constant stream of output. None of it sucks, but if maniacal record buying is not your cup of tea....get lost. Beat it.
This one is hard to find as well, so execute on your intentions before you loose out. You will never take this out of your car, unless you sell it. The car newbits.
