Product Description

A struggle is raging in the quiet hillside pastures! The meadows are crowded, forcing you, the shepherds, to fight for every blade of grass - an acre here, a field there - to feed your tiny, wooly sheep. You must continually expand your pastures to feed your flocks. But watch out! You must be ever vigilant to keep your sheep safe from the marauding, hungry wolves that roam the forests at the pastures edge! Wooly Bully is easy to learn. You place large square tiles representing terrain in an effort to build the largest pasture for your sheep, while thwarting the efforts of other players. The twist is this: since all players keep their identity (color) secret - no one knows which sheep are yours - until you decide to tell them! You must place your plots of land (tiles) on the table in order to build your pasture. You may use the forests, instead of fences, as borders, but beware - they can be infested with hungry wolves lying in wait for your helpless flock. It's up to you to place your tiles at the right moment, and in the best layout to create the largest enclosed pasture. But don't be too greedy - if you're not careful, your field may grow so large that you'll never be able to close it! Game Contents: * 1 Large Cloth Bag * 77 Double-sided Field Tiles * 1 Rule Book

We actually tried this at a game night at our church. It is so easy that even the youngest of our family enjoyed it but it takes a lot of thinking and strategy to win so the older ones enjoy it too. You can be winning one min and the next be losing. The construction of the pieces is very sturdy. Card or tile games like these tend to fall apart after a while. The tiles are a laminated cardboard. This is also a very portable game. It is great on trips to play in the hotel room.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun game for the whole family, May 3, 2009

We just bought this game and played it a few times. My 5-year-old son doesn't quite understand the rules, so he just likes to use the tiles to match and make sheep pastures. My husband and I played it by the rules (mostly) and will have to play it a few more times to catch on to the strategy. he was getting frustrated that I kept on blocking him. Both of us forgot about the bonus points at the end, so I ended up winning even though he had a slightly larger pasture. Alternate rules that we made up are 1) Counting who has the most enclosed sheep over several pastures, 2) Who has the most enclosed pastures, regardless of size.

The pieces seemed very durable until my daughter put one of the pieces in her mouth. But surprisingly it wasn't completely mangled.

Overall a very fun game. No reading required so kids age 4-5+ could play too, but probably with modified rules.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great All Around Family Game, May 23, 2011

I discovered this game in France years ago,and bought a bunch for friends and family, since it wasn't available in the US at that time. It is a great all-around family game. You can play strictly by the rules, which are fairly simple, or make changes as you go, to suit your group and time limit. The illustrations of the sheep and the villages are one of my favorite parts of the game, because even small children are intrigued and amused by the comical sheep. It's definitely a game of strategy, but it's not cutthroat intense, so everyone has a good time playing it.

I'm so glad to see it being sold here in America, I'll definitely recommend it and purchase it as a gift.
