Here is a view of Aspen through a collection of photographs depicting one of America's most popular resorts and its setting in a dramatic natural landscape. At nearly 8,000 feet, Aspen is nestled in a high alpine valley in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, surrounded by designated Wilderness and National Forest. Despite a growing urban influence, Aspen defines a transition zone with nature where an intimate history of the rugged West remains a predominant feature in its character.
