5.0 out of 5 stars Unforgettable blues based melodic rock
First CD of a really, in my opinion, outstanding band, no fillers but only great songs, nice vocals, plenty of guitars. I never heard of this band before and bought a cassette by coincidence but now I own 3 CD's of the group of which this one is the most likeable. It is a pity they didn't make it. They recorded a live EP and changed the singer and with it the typical...

3.0 out of 5 stars Bluesy, Southern hard rock
One of the later bands to emerge from the Hollywood rock scene was Asphalt Ballet. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1992, just as the hair metal party was coming to a close. The band had a melodic hard rock sound with a slightly bluesy, slightly Southern edge, sort of like Skid Row meets Junkyard. A lot of that style came from vocalist Gary Jeffries and...

I love every song of it, to me it is a classical rock album.

A lot of that style came from vocalist Gary Jeffries and his southern fried vocals.

This is a totally rockin' album with plenty of swagger. If you're a fan of bands like Junkyard, Tangier, Royal Court of China, and Jetboy, you'll want to check this album out. It's nothing you haven't heard before, but it's still a solid, enjoyable rock & roll album.

Unfortunately the future wasn't too bright for Asphalt Ballet. They tried to adapt to the grunge sound with their 1993 follow-up album Pigs, but it didn't seem to please the fans or the band, whose members soon went their separate ways.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, April 11, 2010

A favorite disk. One of the few CD's that I like EVERY song. Too bad MP3's aren't available so more people could try them out and enjoy.

One of the greatest bands that never made it. Excellent hard edged metal from the end of the metal era. Buy it. It's well worth the money.

I thought I'd never find this again being a band from the late 80's so I was psyched when I could get it on CD. Just as good as I remembered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love at first listen., May 19, 2007
This review is from: Asphalt Ballet (Audio CD)
Im a pretty young guy but I love older music from the 70's and the 80's well the other day at work, I heard a song on sirius and I had to stop working to see what it was and it was "soul survive" by asphalt ballet. The song was stuck in my head for the rest of the day. when I got home I did some searching to try to find more music to sample of theirs, with no such luck I just went ahead and got the album used. I havent listened to it yet but if everything else is like that song then the album will be killer.

This CD was a used item and when I received it the disc inside was the wrong one.
I contacted the seller and they told me that they could not find the proper disc.
They apologized and promptly refunded my money.
They were professional and courteous and I would probably buy from them again.
