5.0 out of 5 stars The Blueprint for Future Firefighters, November 23, 2004
I have bought every firefighter guide/book/manual during my quest for the Firefighter Badge and I must say that this is the guidebook. Every question that I was pondering about from military experience, education, to background investigation was covered in this book. This book along with Lepore's "SMOKE Your Firefighter Interview" should be required reading for future Firefighters.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best "How-To" Book Available For A Career In The Fire Service, January 16, 2006

As a professional Firefighter and Motivational Speaker, I am finally able to reference a "how-to" entrance book that gives the Fire Candidate the edge they need. Author Battalion Chief Paul Lepore has broken through the barrier of what it takes to become a Firefighter. I've successfully used this book for a one year now, and this book only to prescribe a pathway for a life in the Fire Service to young candidates.

In my twenty-five years in the Fire Service, this is the best book available that can be used universally across the nation among all Fire municipalities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sage advice, January 11, 2006

Paul's passion for the subject and willingness to pass his knowledge along to others shows through with this book. Paul's advice and guidance is coming from someone doing the job everyday that he's mentoring in this book. This isn't theoretical armchair advice. Paul lives the life of a fire fighter day in and day out and knows what fire departments look for in candidates. This book is worth every penny of its cover price.

As with his other book "Smoke Your Fire Department Interview" Paul Lepore is giving the anspiring firefighter a huge advantage. In an easy spelled out book it guides you through a two-year plan on how to develop into a strong candidate for the job of a firefighter. This book is loaded with info not only about the job of a firefighter but what would be expected once hired. If you have questions, this book has the answers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roy Knickman, Firefighter City of Paso Robles, December 5, 2005

The Aspiring Firefighters Two Year Plan gave me a great understanding of the planning and commitment it would take to get hired and succeed as a Probationary Firefighter. In the competitive Firefighter job market, being as complete a candidate as possible is critical. Since buying Chief Lepore's books and meeting with him, I have had five Chief's interviews over a seven month period. Eight months after my first oral I went into backgrounds with three departments and am happy to say I am now working as a fulltime paid Firefighter. Chief Lepore's insite is invaluable and can offer guidence in filling the gaps that may be keeping you from making all the way through the hiring process.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Information, November 22, 2004

Tommygun (So. Calif, USA) - See all my reviews
As you may or may not know, the search for a full time firefighter position is quite competitive in the United States. This book offers a blueprint on how to obtain that very elusive badge you're looking for. So may people go about getting on the fire department by just showing up for test after test and hoping for the best, while never attaining their goal.

Paul Lepore has spelled out a great two year plan in his book; he keeps you from being a "cookie-cutter" candidate and educates you on every aspect about becoming a professional firefighter. From the first steps of preparing yourself mentally and physically, right up to what's expected of you during your rookie year. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a career in the fire service.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for any upcoming Firefighter, December 6, 2005

The road to getting the honorable badge of a professional firefighter is a very tough task. It requires dedication and support not only from your family but from your friends as well. When starting out, I did not know where to begin or where to look first. After purchasing Chief Lapore's book, I was able to make an outline for myself, and along the way picked up valuable tips and advice. I am now in the process of obtaining my EMT certification and hope to work as an EMT in the near future. Without Chief Laopore's book, I would still be looking around and asking questions and getting no where. I highly recommend this book to any upcoming firefighter. Thank you Chief Lapore!!

5.0 out of 5 stars 1 year 11 months, November 28, 2005
Since meeting Paul in December 2003, and following his advice and the Two-Year Plan. I am in backgrounds with a full time department, sitting on 2 A bands, hired as a Reserve Fire Fighter, and interviewing for my "dream" department this week. The average time to hire in SoCal is 4 to 6 years. Paul's book give you that competive edge, helping to make you a top canidate in a sea of people. There are 100 people for every open spot, make yourself one of the best applicants out there. Your toughest competition is yourself, this book and "Smoke Your Firefigher Interview" are the tools I used to get the call.
