5.0 out of 5 stars W.E.B. Griffin is great!
All of the books in the Badge of Honor series are outstanding. W.E.B. Griffin has also written othere series like The Corps and Brotherhood of War. These two series are about the military but incorporate the same character development found in the Badge of Honor series. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not One Of His Better Series
This whole series can be described in two words: poorly written! In The Corps or Brotherhood of War series, you have the feeling that Griffin must have been a military officer because he includes a lot of details that the average person wouldn't know if they hadn't served. With this series, I get the feeling that he never was a police officer, and didn't spend much time...

5.0 out of 5 stars Griffin knows the inside of Philly's Finest, January 7, 2002
By
Teresa K. Furey (Torrance, CA United States) - See all my reviews
The Assasin continues the author's series on the Philadelphia Police Department. His characters come to life before your eyes and keep you turning pages until way past your bedtime.

Griffin has a way of showing the inside information on big-time investigations, without signaling the conclusion.

I can't wait for the next in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best "Badge of Honor" titles, March 30, 1998
By
Matt Payne and friends track down a "voice of God" - hearing character threatening the Vice President of the United States. Griffin, as usual, maintains the characters and personalities developed for this series in exemplary fashion while weaving a great story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great author, September 20, 2011
I have all of WEB Griffins books and rate him along with Wilbur Smith as my all time favorite author. His sagas span several different action themes, but they are all either military, police or intelligence services. The author has residence both in Texas and Argentina and has spent a great deal of time with our military so he uses his familiarity with these settings and people to cast a very nice spell in his work. My wife also enjoys the books so I would say they are suitable for all readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book - Typical WEB Griffin, December 24, 2010
Typical WEB Griffin Book - A great read. I have been going back and ordering the entire series so I can read them in the order that they were published as the "story lines" will make more sense... but it is not necessary however.

Enjoy, I did...

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book., October 3, 2008
This fifth installment in the Badge of Honor series, is a good one as far as I'm concerned. Peter Wohl and his crew at Special Operations are on two major cases. One is to deal with a bad cop and the other is to track a totally unbalanced assassin who has written a letter to the Police telling them that he has been told by the Lord to blow up the Vice President. That's the basis of the story, but as always the interest is with the characters. Griffin can do characters like no one else. These books are set in the late 70's, so there is a datedness in them, but that, in fact is their strength because Griffin seems to know what he's talking about when dealing with late 70's law enforcement. Don't expect cutting edge technology, but do expect a group of men (and that is what the police forces were in the 70's) that are dedicated and do their job to the best of their abilities. And it's so much fun to see what Matt Payne and his buddies get up to next.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not One Of His Better Series, February 14, 2006
This whole series can be described in two words: poorly written! In The Corps or Brotherhood of War series, you have the feeling that Griffin must have been a military officer because he includes a lot of details that the average person wouldn't know if they hadn't served. With this series, I get the feeling that he never was a police officer, and didn't spend much time researching the daily lives of police officers in order to make the story seem realistic.

However, while I doubt he's ever worked for the Department of Homeland Security or the Office of the President, I wouldn't let that stop you from reading his latest series, the Presidential Agent series. He is back in form with these books, so he obviously has enough contact with current or former DHS and/or White House personnel to understand how things work.

1.0 out of 5 stars There's some plots but no gripping ending, June 14, 2004
I agree with one of the other reviewers, I never did find out what happened to the religious nut who wanted to kill the VP, nor did I really care, you;ll read several pages about the guy going to stores, to work, blah, blah, blah and then onto other boring stuff.
I enjoyed his marine corps books, but after reading 3 of his men in blue books, i'm finished with WEB. Not enough action or interesting dialogue, I had to skip several pages to get to any action. Not much happens to the characters, you'll read about them hanging out at a bar but he doesn't develop the characters like he did with The Corps.
