4.0 out of 5 stars The best book on the JFK Assasination, I've ever read
Since before I was born, many Americans have believed that there was a cover-up in relation to the assasination of John F Kennedy. Many believed that the Warren Commision was a white-wash that refused to investigate any possibilty other than the possibility that Lee H. Oswald was a lone assasian who acted on his own in killing former President Kennedy. This book...

4.0 out of 5 stars The best book on the JFK Assasination, I've ever read, May 20, 2000

This book prooves beyond a shadow of doubt that Oswald could NOT have killed Kennedy. It also shows that those in the federal government tampered with evidence and even manufactured evidence to implicate Oswald. It prooves that the fatal shot that killed the President came from IN FRONT of the limosine the President was riding in. It also sites 15 instances of complicity by the Secret Service in JFK's murder. It also proves that there were a MINIMUM of 6 shots fired at JFK and the limosine that he was riding in. It shows how Arlen Specter and other members of the Warren Commision bent over backwards to not arrive at the truth in their investigation. It shows how Doctors who were in the trauma room and worked on President Kennedy's gunshot wounds have been hounded and persecuted for telling what they know and not agreeing with the official line on Kennedy's assasination. Medical experts (including those who saw Kennedy's gunshot wounds) explain exactly what happened to the President. Experts on Photography and Cinematography explain who the Zapruder film was edited, experts on radiology explain how x-rays were altered. Witnesses who actually witnessed the shooting were interviewed. The whole thing is very professional and exhaustively researched. The only complaint I have about the book is that it reads like a series of investigative reports published by experts for experts. I'm just a common layman. I don't need to hear the smae piece of evidence proven again and again and again to be correct. I don't need to hear every single argument the opposition has ever made to be disproven. In many ways the book is as dry and uninteresting as a courtroom trial. However if you can get past the stiff, dry, scholarly approach these experts have taken in their writings you will find some very fascinating and revealing information that the government doesn't want you to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emphasis on 'Science' : Think or Get out of the Kitchen!, May 10, 2004
The Thinking Man's Warren Report...

Fetzer's collation of articles by meticulous JFK assassination researchers is fascinating, technical, rigorous and compelling. If you want someone to make it simple for you, go elsewhere. On the other hand, if you are a serious, data-driven JFK buff, this book is a gold mine. The evidence presented was authoritative and convincing - especially the discussion of the optical density data on the autopsy X-rays and the minute analysis of the Zabruder film. (I dug out my Life photos of the Zabruder film, for instance, and was floored to realize that several glaring inconsistancies were right in front of me, all along...)

There is no particular effort to answer the 'Who Dunnit?' - except to add enormous credence to the premise that the American government agencies, FBI SS, CIA, military, etc., must have participated, at least on some level.

As one with a long-standing fascination on the role of scientists in the philosophical quest for knowledge,(while at the same time being a shameless physics junkie), I especially appreciated Fetzer's contributions(and other's), on logical fallacy, the nature of proof, and the pitfalls of researching outside a cohesive scientific community.

I realize that Fetzer has an axe to grind with JAMA, but having cut my conspiracy teeth on Crenshaw's JFK, Conspiracy of Silence, I felt that axe needed the work. Were I a physician, I'd quit the AMA over their treatment of Crenshaw.

The book contains invaluable references to other responsible works on the assassination, providing if not a roadmap, at least a starting point in the wilderness; there are thousands of volumes on this highly popular subject, so this is no small favor.

All in all, the book lives up to its title. I am still reeling from the final chapters!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best undiscovered book of the last decade, May 25, 2000
By A Customer
The most important aspect of this work is the background of its author. Professor Fetzer's credentials are extraordinary. He is a recognized expert in the philosophy of science field. His scholarly work on "critical thinking" is widely acknowledged as brilliant. His application of those skills to the JFK assassination is the first of its kind. His conclusions are only far-fetched and bizarre if you believe that the rigorous application of scientific principles is useless. Buy the book and read it carefully. It is shocking.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Books on the JFK Assassination, January 25, 2005
Simply put, this book presents solid SCIENTIFIC evidence that was at least two or more shooters. The book itself reads like a magazine and compiles the top articles pertaining to scientific evidence in the case. Fetzer himself only wrote maybe 1/3 of the articles and does not seek to present any of his personal theories on WHO did it, but simply presents evidence that proves that there was a conspiracy. A must for any serious researcher.

4.0 out of 5 stars Whatever it takes ..., September 28, 2006
Though the non-existence of the Magic Bullet is as every bit certain as the Sun Rising in the East; the MB theory having been concocted by lawyers, not doctors & then mysteriously "fine tuned" for good measure by (Dr., not) Gerald Ford.

But if you wanna delve into shot trajectories, gun scope technology, shadowy characters and the like please visit the "JFK Karaoke" website (aka JFK Lancer) for the latest quotes.

Don't be in a big hurry, though ... we will have gone through another 75 or so presidents before THAT bus pulls out of Dealey Plaza and gets on with the show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Courageous and Meticulous, April 4, 2002
By A Customer
A former University of Utah professor of mine concluded that the Kennedy assassination represented the "consummate slippery slope" issue -so much so, that we should not expect to see a solution in "our lifetime." I regret that I allowed such thinking to infect my objectivity, especially after reading Dr. James Fetzer's Assassination Science. Dr. Fetzer has clearly and irrefutably demonstrated the mechanics of the cover-up, from the machinations and improprieties at Bethesda, to the deception and disguise related to the Zupruder film. Anyone who has a modicum of interest in the future political integrity of this nation, should have a copy of Assassination Science on their book shelf.

This is a worthwhile book. It tends to be dry and scientific, but there is no harm in that. If you are just getting into this field of interest, buy Crossfire first, to get some background.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eliminates any doubts that there was a conspiracy, July 12, 1998
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
James Fetzer's "Assassination Science" dissects the facts, theories, and possibilities surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy. No stone is left unturned as the author exhaustively sorts through the details of this important historical event.

It is hard to believe that some people still naively think that Oswald acted alone in committing this crime. The supporter's of the Warren Commission's final decision are often stubbornly loyal to the lone gunman theory. But one has to wonder about the motives of these individuals. For example, are the members of the American Medical Association who agree with the Warren Commission really that naive and ignorant, or are they involved in a cover up? Many WC loyalists are well - educated, intelligent people. So, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that some of these people (those in government, the AMA, etc) must surely be involved in a cover up. Fetzer's decision to resign from the AMA, given all of the dishonesty and secrecy attributed to this group of so- called professionals, was admirable.

One omission from this book that surprised me is the role of Jack Ruby, Oswald's assassin. Fetzer focuses his efforts on the conspiracy theory and the possibility of the involvement of more than one assassin. I agree that this is the most important part of the case, but what about Jack Ruby? I think his involvement in the conspiracy deserves some mention.

This book provides conclusive evidence that there was a conspiracy. There are simply too many unanswered questions, too many odd occurances, and too much suspicious behavior to think otherwise. I am convinced!

5.0 out of 5 stars Factual, March 25, 2000
By A Customer
Mr. Fetzer has provided a virtual cornucopia of hard data supporting the critics of the Warren Report. This is a book that must be read by -not only- every student of the JFK assassination, but anyone who assumes they understand how American power politics dominates this country. Judging from the book's content of data, facts and scientific method, this book deserves a five star rating. Thanks Dr. Fetzer
