I'm going to start off by saying these two games are great games, and deserve five stars. For ten dollars, it is a great deal.

However, when I was trying to install Assassin's creed II from the disk, about half way through the installation I came across an error saying this:

"Feature: newfeature1
component: dataPC_firenze
file: e:/
error: data error (cyclic redundancy check)"

I tried installing it again and came across the same error half way through the installation again. Then I tried on my other computer and got the same message. Something must be up with the disc included for Assassin's Creed II, because it is not just me who has experienced this problem. Google assassin's creed II cyclic redundancy check and there are many other people who have had this problem.

To solve this problem you have to look on your disc and look for the "Encore" company's support site. Or you can just google "encore support" Then you can make a request in order support (not support home or technical support). I just said that I got this error message and they gave me a download link for the file, which was very nice of them. It's a 5gb file so it will take a while to download. Once downloaded, you can use the key code/serial key that came with the CD to log on and play the game.

fill out the form link:
support (dot) encore (dot ) com / ordersupport / order_support_frm (dot) aspx
the link i got from the email with the download link :

Not sure if i'm supposed to put links to other sites in my reviews, sorry this is my first review on

Hope this helped. If you have any questions leave them in the comments and I'll try to answer them

I was nervous about whether I was getting both games or just one of them, but I got them both, so I am happy.

AC1 works without any validation. AC2 requires a key. I also bought AC Brotherhood separately, and for your information, Brotherhood requires UPlay registration.

Anyway, the games work perfectly, and I love the AC series. AC1 runs beautifully on PC, though I have to complain about the controls. AC2 is much better visually, and the controls are vastly improved, but the story is much shorter and less interesting. That said, it is still a great story, and you will love the "bleeding effect" they introduce.

If you have played AC1, AC2 is a great sequel. You should continue playing the AC games.

If you have not played AC1, it will try your patience, but it is a brilliant game, and the sequels further define the gameplay. Personally, my favorite of the first three games was AC2, with Brotherhood in a close second, but AC1 still has a certain charm to it. Revelations is not out yet for PC, but I have the digital version preordered, and I suspect it will be awesome.

Upon installing Assassin's Creed (Number One) I found that when I initialized the game it froze for a second or two upon the Ubisoft logo, and again in various places throughout the cut-scene before the main page. After this, I found that every time my 'status' would change, I killed a guard, focused on an NPC, or spoke with an NPC it would freeze as well.
I found a fix to this; It's apparently Assassin's Creed attempting to contact a Ubisoft server for some reason or another (possibly to give error or glitches feedback), the way to fix this is to disconnect your computer from the internet. Once I did this, it ran like a dream and I haven't had a single problem with it.
I can't say that this is everyone's problem when it freezes, or that everyone even has this problem, but it worked for both of my computers, and apparently many others.
As far as Assassin's Creed II, I have encountered no problems with it whatsoever when using the activation code, both games run like a dream.

Pros: Everything I can think of except the single con below

Con: AC1 menu isn't very coordinated so it takes 5 minutes to exit the game. You must leave the Animus, exit to menu, leave the menu to the player menu(list of games in progress) and then quit the entire game. Unless I missed something incredibly simple, it wasn't the most smooth quit ever.

Helpful: I have done a lot of research into whether my new laptop can play the Assassins Creed games. According to "Can you run it" requirement checker, I shouldn't be able to play AC2 with the graphics card I have, but it works completely fine without even fixing the graphic settings. My graphics card is an Intel HD 4000(fairly lame), but since as far as I can see, ACBrotherhood/Revelations seem to have close graphic requirements, I am looking to purchase them as well. Hope this helped!

If you like the "sneak" genre, this is a great game for you. Your job is to stay unnoticed. This is my preferred genre, back to the days of Thief and more recently, the Hit Man series.

The only thing that is tough to get used to is there are a LOT of controls in this game. It's not just WASD and the mouse. You need to become familiar with them and it takes time, but well worth it.

Update: I didn't realize this at the time I wrote the review, but this copy of Assassin's Creed 2 also includes two chapters that were originally downloadable content. I believe the original cost of them was $5 each. So that only adds to how great a deal this is.

I originally purchased AC1 when it was on sale for $5 about 2 years ago. I never got around to playing more than a couple hours, but I recently became interested in playing Assassin's Creed 3, so I decided to start playing through the series working up to that.

Assassins Creed 1 is an OK game. It looks gorgeous , and the gameplay is pretty unique. The game's story is REALLY GOOD, particularly towards the end. Unfortunately the gameplay is extremely repetitive. In each segment you are tasked with killing 3 people, one in each of three cities. You go to each city, perform some "investigations"(simple side missions), and then kill your target. Sadly, there are only a few types of investigations.. eavesdropping(sit on a bench and listen to a cutscene),pickpocket(sneak up behind someone without being seen), or Interrogation(fist fight a public speaker). The PC version has a few other investigation types that are more action focused and more interesting, but ultimately still repetitive. By far the best part of the gameplay are the actual assassination scenes, which are all unique and a breathe of fresh air after all the repetitive tasks. Sadly, the amount of information you gather during your investigation doesn't change how these scenes play out, and that seems like a big failure here since making the scenes more dynamic would have added a great aspect to the gameplay.

After finishing AC1, I immediately wanted to jump into the second one, and remembered seeing this double pack at my local Target.
