I really enjoyed this book. I like assembly language and wanted to learn 6502 so I could make Atari games. I'm already familiar with MIPS assembly language so understanding this book was a breeze. If you are familiar with low level programming languages and want a good read this is a great book. On a side note in The Terminator there is a patch of 6502 programming in the terminator's view, so if you ever want to work for Skynet this is a must buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Complete reference for the 6502, May 10, 2011

This review is from: 6502 Assembly Language Programming (Paperback)
Like all the Osbourne microprocessor books from this period, this book is a gem. It has everything you need to know about the 6502 for programming. It covers interfacing with other chips and even gives some timing info and electrical specs for what the signals expect. This is the best 6502 book I owned and I own a lot of them. It is complete and covers everything including some minor code samples.

It is not for a specific machine! That part is important. It won't teach you how to program Star Raiders either. So don't think you are getting a "learning to program" guide. It is more of a reference work or a good book for someone with machine language experience and they need to learn this processor fast.
