This terrific compilation, while certainly not exhaustive, is the perfect intro to Airto's work. It's the only CD to feature key tracks from both his CTI and his Warner Bros. periods (including the sought-after "Celebration Suite"), even throwing in a track from the legendary 1967 album by Quarteto Novo, of which he was a member alongside Hermeto Pascoal. It also visits his two excellent releases on Montuno records from the '80s. Recommended to lovers of acid jazz, plain ol' jazz, Brazilian music, Latin music, and even club/house. Also great for working out, dance classes, jogging and whatever other physical exertion one may be engaging in...but above all, it's just excellent music to listen to. Only docked a star because, at 11 tracks, there was room for more, and "Xibaba," "Amajour" and "Jive Talk," among others, are missing. Still an essential purchase, though.
