Breezy, crass and brutally honest -- X Crement skewers the troglodytes in all of us. From Flaming Assholes to the Sissy Asshole, nobody is spared from his devastating satire. all-too-painfully-true insights into the nature of the obnoxious bastards that make our lives a living hell -- must read for anyone working in the IRS, DMV, or the White House. The Litigeous Asshole, the Holy Asshole and New Age Asshole get their own chapters, as does entire manifestations of assholism in society. Too bad the people who most desperately need this book would never read it

5.0 out of 5 stars Sadly True - Hilariously True, May 17, 1999
By
archie@norfolk.infi.net (Hampton Roads, Virginia USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Asshole No More (The Asshole Saga, Volume 1) (Paperback)
Dr. Crement has given us non-assholes (to ourselves at least) the opportunity to give a book to someone who really deserves it.

Written as a Twelve Step Program, the book is an ideal gift to those with whom you work, for whom you work, or just your neighbor who occasionally shows you the assholiness within him.

I have read and re-read this book and have given away at least 8 to 10 copies to those who I deemed deserving of it, hoping it would send them up the road to recovery. Highly recommended for both reading and for giving.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book You Must Put Down Every Few Pages - to recover..., June 10, 1999
This review is from: Asshole No More (The Asshole Saga, Volume 1) (Paperback)
If you've ever read a book so good that you "just can't put it down," this isn't one of those. You must put it down every few pages to stop the pain from laughing so much. Don't miss reading the cover sheets and introduction either. This book is funny from the front cover to the back.

It's not you! It's them! I was given one copy, read it, then bought 3 to pass along to friends in need of education. Enlighting book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Side-Splitting Humor and Truth, Too!, December 31, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Asshole No More (The Asshole Saga, Volume 1) (Paperback)
This is a must read for anyone who has ever worked for, lived with, or encountered a**holes in all their numerous iterations (and they are everywhere). For those who still harbor the hope that a**holes will change their behavior and become human beings, Dr. X. Crement rapidly makes these dreamers understand the futility of this desire. Not only does Dr. X. identify they types of a**holes, he offers excellent suggestions in how to deal with or, better yet, escape from them.

This book is the perfect gift for someone who is in the throes of trying to get out of a relationship with an a**hole of either sex, be it personal or professional.

Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Direct, crass, funny, and hits the nail on the head, February 7, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Asshole No More (The Asshole Saga, Volume 1) (Paperback)
At first I was shocked, then I found myself laughing. So funny, and hits the nail on the head. You'll recognize every obnoxious person you ever dealt with, even (uncomfortably) yourself. I highly recommend it - and if you buy one copy, you'll buy ten to give away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Food for thought about excrement incarnate, November 13, 2006
This review is from: Asshole No More (The Asshole Saga, Volume 1) (Paperback)
Author X. Crement gives the real poop on assholism using tongue-in-cheek observations, book references, & recommendations to provide the reader with good belly laughs yet food for thought as well. He extrapolates his theory (a parody of numerous other books & schemes) to point out the perils of assholism (applied narcissism IMHO) to both the sufferers, their co-dependents, & others who have the misfortune of meeting them. The book has some fine lines--p. 64: "They are as full of contradictions as a porcupine selling balloons," "quotes"--p. 138: Oliver South--"The most entertaining fiction I read is in the newspaper every morning," psychological observations-- p. 66: "Many neurotics & depressed people are nothing more than the victims of assholes," conclusions--p. 4: "People become assholes because asshole behavior seems to work," & statistical challenges--p. 80: "The majority of people are assholes." But he also provides a humorous 12-step program to address these problems. It's one of the funniest books I've read, up there with Grant Naylor's "Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers." Enjoy, & share with your many suffering friends (sufferers & victims alike).

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth buying!, March 10, 2001
By
Jay Stine (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Asshole No More (The Asshole Saga, Volume 1) (Paperback)
This parody on self-help books is well written and very funny. It's observations are frighteningly accurate and the author's advice is useful. Considering how common Assholism is in America I'm surprised this book is not a National Bestseller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ever wondered about the perfect gift for a real A** Hole?, November 1, 2011
This review is from: Asshole No More (The Asshole Saga, Volume 1) (Paperback)
I read this "Tour de Force" Vol. 1 soon after it was published. While I was reading Dr. X. Crement's seminal volume in this series I was struck by a strange phenomenon that I've never experienced before or since while reading any book. As the writer adeptly described each species of A** Hole vivid images of people who were archetypes of each of these individuals in my own life came to mind. Any way... as the author states in his 1st volume: I'll paraphrase. "If you give more than one copy to the same A** Hole let us know & we'll include him/her in our A** Holes Hall of Fame" Dr. X. I believe there is one more sub-species that you should add to your compenduum of A** Holeness. That would be the person (A** Hole) to whom I lent my copy of Vol. 1 who never gave it back!
I can't wait to read Vols. 2 & 3.
