Assimilation Illusion is an experimental album with varying keyboard and vocal effects. For instance, the track "Leaving You" features a background echoe for the vocals. The programming is more industrial than pop. The lyrics are intense.

This is a five star album

Frightdoll's much anticipated follow-up to "Reference Version" does not disappoint. As a matter of fact, this talented artist has out-done herself with "Assimilation Illusion."
On the surface, it's easy to be carried away by her sometimes very haunting, bittersweet melodies. And at others, her very Gothic-industrial beats. Yet underlying it all, Frightdoll delivers pure, raw emotions in her lyrics and her voice. She bares her soul in her music. She is an expert storyteller.

What a ride. What a magical ride Frightdoll takes us through with AI.
When I received my first copy of this CD, I put the final song, "Sweet Serenity" on repeat for over 30 minutes. Such sweet melancholy.

This is a CD not to be missed by anyone who enjoys this genre of music.

I am constantly on the search for new artists/bands to discover in the goth and industrial genre. A year ago I came across Frightdoll on Myspace but it wasn't until recently did I finally get around to buying one of Frightdoll's albums. I recently acquired the latest Frightdoll album ASSIMILATION ILLUSION. I have to admit I didn't take to this cd right away but after listening to the album, I have grown to love the music. Frightdoll's music reminds me of some of my favorite artists/bands on Alfa Matrix records like Diffuzion and Unter Null. Her vocals are often distorted. While the beats aren't as fast paced and in your face like the artists I just mentioned, the songs are still danceable. Granted that Frightdoll's music isn't anything I haven't already heard before I still think ASSIMILATION ILLUSION is still worthy of five stars.

FRIGHTDOLL is an amazing talented artist in the goth/industrial scene. ASSIMILATION ILLUSION is an outstanding CD...her haunting electronic voice echoes in her wicked lyrics which makes one scream for FRIGHTDOLL, FRIGHTDOLL, FRIGHTDOLL!!!

FRIGHTDOLL is a definite artist for the ages whose music will be a hit on the dancefloor! STOMP! STOMP!

Ms Fd is the most articulate writer I have heard in a long long time. She speaks straight to the heart of anyone with emotions tied up in questioning life and our very existence. If the album was not copyrighted I would put a phrase from "Lost" on my tombstone. The lyrics are soul-searching, relevant and poignant.
