Outstanding Survivor's Manual,
By Tricia Hague-Blackford (New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Assisting the Traumatized Soul: Healing the Wounded Talisman (Paperback)
This remarkable story of one survivor, and her struggle to find herself, is not just a story of sexual abuse, as important as that is, but is a manual for those in authority to be able to recognize and deal with abuse of all kinds when it shows itself in any community of followers of Baha'u'llah. This book enables the reader to delve into their own lives, and root out the cause of fears which prevent them from becoming their true selves. It focus's on violence and abuse and makes one mindful of the effects of the old world order. "How can we help others" is the main thrust of this wonderful book. I recommend its reading to all members of the family of the Most Great Name.

"Assisting the Traumatized Soul" begins with a personal story. What follows is a remarkable analysis of the process of healing. It is full of strategies and ways to build an authentic self that may lie hidden under a blistering sore or a hardened scab. Phyllis Peterson has plumbed her own depths to help us all recover. The book is full of practical as well as spiritual tools to use in recovery. It will be helpful to anyone who has felt abused or who strives to understand and assist someone injured by a dark experience in life.
