It is interesting to compare with book with Sebastian Seung's "Connectome". Seung as a scientist is busy how present and future findings in labs will bring about new insight and understanding of our mind. He is just excited and optimistic about what's stored around the corner to enhance our knowledge. In contrast, Clark as a philosopher kills all these excitement with perennial quest for full logical consistency of theories. And since often times gaps be it logical or empirical is hidden in subtlety inside otherwise generally persuasive theories, the argument tends to be surgical and thus dry. Some medicines are too bitter for its effect. And some philosophers gladly take it upon their duty to manufacture them.
