3.0 out of 5 stars Ska-punk without horns
The Assorted Jellybeans sound much like operation ivy, squad 5 0,and the earlier suicide machines. They are ska-punk lacking horns. They don't have the songwriting of operation ivy or the suicide machines, but much like squad 5 0 they have enough energy and catch songs to make it worth it.They should add a little diversity to their songs though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Assorted Jellybeans; with pure punk flavor, February 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Assorted Jelly Beans (Audio CD)
Assorted Jellybeans is ska with a lot of punk rock flavor. I bought this CD and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you want to know what it sounds like I would describe it as a mix of Operation Ivy and a little bit of Voodoo glow skulls. I have a very large selection of punk CDs but when I rate them all it usually ends up at the top of the pile.

This cd is really good. my favorites are "braindead" and "8th grade nerd". Also, if you like this cd, you should check out THE $ELLOUT$, they sound like AJB except like 50 times better...

4.0 out of 5 stars quick, so. cal ska-core, August 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Assorted Jelly Beans (Audio CD)
The Assorted Jelly beans play a kind of frantic style of ska-core without horns. This cd sounds sort of like a mix between OpIvy, Falling Sickness, and the Voodoo Glow-Skulls. The lyrics cover basic punk topics and add a little humor, but aren't really anything new. However, about 2/3 of the songs are actually pretty good, so if you like ska-core, it's a pretty good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the best Ska/Punk since Op Ivy, June 21, 2008
This review is from: Assorted Jelly Beans (Audio CD)
Since Operation Ivy being one of my favorite bands, but only releasing one album, I am always in search of good ska punk in the same vein. This album is a very much in the same area, but without the politically charged lyrics. Great album overall and is quickly becoming one of my most listened to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well made ska-punk, May 23, 2008
This review is from: Assorted Jelly Beans (Audio CD)
While not anywhere near as great as their follow-up, this album has some great straight out ska-punk tunes with a bit of hinting towards their next album. 'Braindead', 'Mr. Bill', 'Assorted Jellybeans', 'Punk Rock Jock', 'Newska One' and 'Doobage' are all really good songs that stick on repeated listens and would probably hook any listener looking for something new. All in all, it's a good album that hints at greater things the band would accomplish next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bratty ska-punk at it's best, October 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Assorted Jelly Beans (Audio CD)
Assorted Jellybeans are more fun than I've ever had in Riverside, CA. The bratty vocals are probably my favorite aspect of this disc. If you think you'd like the love child of Operation Ivy and The Toy Dolls, you'll like this record. The best track is Braindead. The bass player, Ricky Boyer, is an on fire fox on wheels (great bass player too).

2.0 out of 5 stars NOOO!!!!!!!!!, December 5, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Assorted Jelly Beans (Audio CD)
Okay, first off, I'm not a kid, I just didn't want to make an account. The music on the cd is pretty cool, but there's a problem. You see, I heard AJB on Tony Hawk's Underground and I wanted one of their cds. Me, being the resposible guy that I am, (not!) decided to look up the lyrics first. (I do that before I buy cds) Well, EVERY SONG ON HERE HAS INAPPROPRIATE LYRICS!!!! They all either say bad words or talk about drugs. Why doesn't this have a parental advisory label?!?!
