One of the main sources of joy during recent combat tours was a box of goodies from the US. Cookies sent from the States tended to be either crumbs or AWOL (pilfered) by the time that they got to the front line. One of the joys that did not translate well into the diet of many marines and soldiers was cheese. While we could obtain many different products, cheese was one of the hardest to obtain.
The joy in my unit was palpable whenever the "Old Man" received a box of cheese from the US. Igourmet, nicely done! The entire box was consumed within three hours of arrival. Igourmet packs the cheese in a weather resistant box to include dry ice, and it worked maginificiently. The cheese was fresh and ready when it arrived in Iraq. In service, Rich [...] |
