This History lesson by Mr. Wuhl is not only the funniest commentary on video I have ever seen, it is eyeopening in it's review of historical events we take for granted. Mr. Wuhl is well schooled in literature, history, and film, and he uses this expertise to illuminate American and world history in a most entertaining manner. As noted previously, Nr. Wuhl peppers his lesson with the occasional f-bomb, so it is definitely not elememtary school rated. His audience in the video is college students, and they are totally enthralled. Mr. Wuhl has a sequel "Assume the Position 201" that is equally well done. We can only hope he continues his career as a History professor. What a great semester class that would be.

In this HBO series, Robert Wuhl brings American history to life and corrects many popular misconceptions. I learned a great deal through this brilliantly funny presentation of American History. If Mr. Wuhl were to teach a history course at my college, I am quite sure it would be wait listed well into the next decade.

On a side note, Mr. Wuhl does make use of the occasional expletive; so, this program may not be appropriate for all audiences.

I showed 'Assume the Position' to my high school World History class, as well as my AdultSchool U.S. History class. The language is a bit dicey for the high schoolers, but it is nothing that I don't hear walking across the campus daily.
The content is hilarious and beneficial because it shows that history is dynamic and has an element of perspective. The idiom "History was written by the winners!" has a new meaning!
I thoroughly enjoyed the video but it could be offensive to some high school sophomores. I would suggest editing the language for younger audiences and not using so many F's!

I bought this video two years ago and I love it! I watch it again and again. I bust it out whenever I need a reminder. Mr. Wuhl present the real story behind American history. But he does it in a very engaging and funny way. He's talking to college students in the video and speaking to them in plain, simple language that anyone can understand. I find myself quoting from this video all the time. It will really alter your view of history and question things you always accepted as facts. You ever wonder where the song "Yankee Doodle Dandy" comes from? Or even where the phrase f$$$ you comes from? He covers that and more. It was very worth the money and I'd highly reccomend it to anyone. I'm so glad that I bought it.

A very unique way of looking at history, given by a professor/comedian. Dont let history fool you, learn what history really is, and what real did happen.

This is the DVD for those who have blindly believed everything they've been told or read. The reality is presented with great humor and information. It's truly delightful.

Teaching with a twist. History, specifically, with a twist. Robert Wuhl's Assume the Position is a fun right, I will admit that 101 is better than 201, but I think that's because it had the spark of fresh and new that no one expected that didn't quite come accross in 201. Overall, the facts that are pointed out the little tid bits of history laced with good humor make this HBO special a must have.

This guy is hilarious. I originally watched this online with Netflix and had to have it. I have a degree in History and the things he talks about are funny and true.

As someone who is well versed in history, not only is Wuhl VERY funny in this, but he is dead-on accurate as he covers some of the 'Jerry Springer' moments in the history of our country. I for one greatly wish that Wuhl would somehow parlay this pair of comedies into a successful series.
