Editorial Reviews

The Egyptian Queen Cleopatra bets against the Roman Emperor, Julius Caesar, that her people are still great, even if the times of the Pharaohs has long passed. She bets (against all logic) to be able to build a new palace for Caesar within three months. Since all her architects are either busy otherwise or too conservative in style, this ambivalent honor falls to Numerobis. If he is unable to complete the gold covered palace in time, he will be eaten by crocodiles! Numerobis calls upon an old friend, the fabulous Druid Panoramix from Gallia, who brews a potion that gives supernatural strength. In order to help and protect, Asterix and Obelix accompany the old Druid on his journey to Egypt. When Julius Caesar gets wind of the project succeeding, he has the building site attacked by his troops in order to win the bet and not lose his face. But he hasn't counted on Asterix and Obelix!

2.0 out of 5 stars Dubbed in English! May 19, 2013

I was so exited to finally find a copy of this wonderful movie in the US. I'm from France but moved to the US so there is no way I can watch it dubbed in English. And there is no option to change it to the original language. The description does not say anything about being changed into English. Half of this comedy is based on the acting and witty plays on words and I watched it so many times in France that it's just too weird to have fake voices over my beloved actors! It's one of my favorite movies. I'm just gonna have to keep looking :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite of these but still quite good December 4, 2013

Of the four A&O movies, I've seen 1,2, and 4 (this one is #2). I liked #1 better and #4 even better but this was still quite good, and I recommend it. I found the dubbing job to be pretty good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great movie October 22, 2013

Having trouble with the roman empire, pirates and sneaky politicians, not to mention your home builder...droid or druid ? The little village in Gaul that was never conquered is a vivid and funny place to visit. Funny and amazing as pyramid workers go on strike and legions "follow orders" and history gets tweaked. Funny and great gators.
