Book Description

Asterix (Orion Paperback) October 7, 2008
In this fabulous collector's edition of Asterix, books four to six are collected in one volume for the first time ever. In Asterix The Gladiator, the Romans capture Cacofonix as a gift for Caesar who plans to throw him to the lions. To rescue their bard, Asterix and Obelix have to become gladiators. In Asterix and the Banquet, the Romans build a barricade around the village. So Asterix and Obelix demonstrate their resistance by going on a journey around the entire country, collecting local specialities on the way. Asterix, Obelix and co visit Egypt in Asterix and Cleopatra, where they are entranced by the Sphinx, the pyramids and Cleopatra's nose.

I am so glad to see these wonderful comics be printed in omnibus editions. I am so looking forward to seeing more of these becoming available. I understand that there were at least 33 of these done and I want them all. Since they were produced when I was growing up, I appreciate all of the humor that they had. I want the whole set.

For those of you familiar with the adventures of Asterix and Obleix, the magic is as you remembered. For those that would like to know what all the fuss is about, I invite you to join in the adventures of the two heros that have just a bit of History and a barrel full of laughs woven into the tales. The panels are beautfully drawn, the dialogue just as artful. I am also happy to say that time has not lowered the standard of the printing, colours are bright and the paper stock is heavy as in the past and I am comparing the current to approx. 30 years prior! Enjoy!

Three great books in one! I loved it. Sad story that I'm thirty and still like these comics, but they really are a lot of fun for all ages :)
