Not anywhere near as good as volume 1..., March 17, 2005
This review is from: Astonishing X-Men: Emma Frost, Vol. 2 - Mind Games (Paperback)
The first volume of Emma Frost was really cool. To see Emma Frost as a teenager was great. This one the other hand is just stupid.
Emma finds a guy whose in trouble with the boston mob, and they get kidnapped and blah, blah, blah.
This story did not need 6 issues. Its too long and way stretched out, By issue 3, i was begging for it to end. Its just keeps going on and on and on.
Not only that, this series was supposed to show emma's life in her early years, volume one did a great job but volume two, who cares, i felt like the plot was just so unimportant. By the end, you will see the writer (Karl Bollers) wanted to show how Emma got her money to start her new life. But he did not need 6 issues! I feel like he needed to stretch this story arc out so it would fit nice in the tpb. I hope volume 3 does as good as a job as volume 1 and not his boring mess.

Slow second story arc..., January 28, 2005
This review is from: Astonishing X-Men: Emma Frost, Vol. 2 - Mind Games (Paperback)
The second story arc of Emma Frost, covering issues 7-12, is much slower and unexciting compared to the first.
The story is very cliched and you can guess what happens before you turn the page. Its a run of the mill love story with a twist. You can find those anywhere, and most are better written than what youll find in this book.
The art is still wonderful though its not as good as Randy Greens in the first few issues.
So if youre a fan of Emma than pick this up. If not, you should probably stay clear of it.
However, the third and final arc, issues 13-18, picks up where the first let off and its a major improvement over Mind Games.

A wonderful prequel, November 19, 2006
This review is from: Astonishing X-Men: Emma Frost, Vol. 2 - Mind Games (Paperback)
I loved this Emma Frost series, which showed us her teen years as she was beginning to learn about her powers, up through her college years, as she begins to learn how to control her abilities.
A must read for any Emma Frost fan!
