More About the Author

Eisner and Harvey Award nominated writer Marc Sumerak has worked professionally in the comic book industry for over a decade. What started as an editorial internship during his Junior year at Bowling Green State University soon transformed into an Assistant Editor position at Marvel Comics in NYC. Four years and five hundred publications later, Sumerak left Marvel's editorial staff and pursued a freelance writing career. As both an editor and a writer, Sumerak has helped chart the course for a number of today's most popular characters, including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers, The Hulk, Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, The X-Men, and many more.

In 2005, Sumerak helmed the relaunch of Marvel's POWER PACK franchise. His work as co-writer on FRANKLIN RICHARDS: SON OF A GENIUS earned an Eisner Award nomination (2006) and two Harvey Award nominations (2006 & 2008). Some of Sumerak's other writing work includes MARVEL ADVENTURES: SPIDER-MAN, HULK TEAM-UP, WEAPON X: FIRST CLASS, and a highly-publicized story from MODELS INC. starring Iron Man and TV fashion icon Tim Gunn.

Sumerak's first creator owned project, ALL-GHOULS SCHOOL, is being released in August 2011 by IDW Publishing. A 112-page original graphic novel, ALL-GHOULS school tells the story of a human girl struggling to survive a semester at a school for monsters. With stunning art by David Bryant & Hi-Fi, this all ages book is full of horror and humor that can't be missed!

Additionally, Sumerak has written material for DC Comics, American Greetings, the Elks, SAMHSA, PBS Kids, Pepperidge Farm, Tyson Foods, Triple-A Baseball, SEGA, and the U.S. Army.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book for a beginning comic reader, July 6, 2006

This review is from: Astonishing X-Men: Ororo - Before The Storm (Paperback)
These small, kid-friendly digests are a great way for young readers to begin to read comics. It has its morals and adventure, but what I appreciate from Marvel is that an advanced reader can pick up the book and appreciate it for the plot and how it actually ties into X-men comics. Thus, I recommend it to not only young readers, but to the older audience who would like a history of Ororo.
